A Bad DayJessie Fifer

In 2008, I lived in New Jersey.

I worked as a nanny.

I lived in the house with the family I worked for.

For Christmas I flew to Ohio to visit my family.

I also visited friends. We watched movies, listened to music, and cooked food.

We took a trip to the ski resort and played in the snow. We went snowboarding.

On Christmas Day, we ate a big dinner and opened presents.

After Christmas, I flew to New York, and then I rode a bus to New Jersey.

Then I drove through New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

In Connecticut, I was driving, and my car battery exploded.

A couple stopped and helped me.

The man and woman took me to a store and bought me a new battery.

The man installed the battery in my car, and I thanked them.

I continued to drive. I picked up my friend Jaime in Massachusetts, and we started driving back to New York City.

It had snowed and the roads were bad.

I called my father and asked him to pay for a hotel room.

While I was talking with him, I was driving and my car spun out of control.

I hung up the phone because I was scared. I thought I was going to die. My car stopped spinning and I regained control.

I called my father back once I had pulled over off the road.

He booked us a hotel room, and I slept.
