WikipediaWikipedia is used as a source of knowledge for everything unknown.
The user edited website is information rich because of the contents
offered by users as an addition to the already existing set of facts on a
topic or subject. By updating your learning of a subject on Wikipedia
you not only learn effectively but also enable others have a look at
your piece of information.
Skype Skype in the Classroom is a lifesaver for schools that do not
have the funds to take students on field trips. Just imagine taking
your class on an "around the world" field trip or having a
famous author lead a guided reading exercise as part of your
Daily 5 literacy program. You can do both of these and more
without leaving your classroom. It's one of my favorite tools in
education.
NearpodNearpod is an innovative way to create interactive and engaging
lessons for students of all ages. While you are teaching students about
a particular skill or concept, you can give students quizzes, surveys,
drawing activities etc. As the teacher, you can view all of your
students’ progress and even view reports. To sign up, go to
http://www.nearpod.com/signup/ and choose the free educator plan.
WordleWordle is a very useful tool for teachers and students alike. It is free
and versatile enough to be used in any area of the curriculum. My
students often use Wordles to summarize personal narratives and
speeches as well as to study key terms for summative evaluations. I
also quite often use the software to create my student profiles.
