CAUSES
• Social causes:- Northern abolitionist or antislavery
advertisements made aganist the southern states vindicating the right of the slaves.
• Economic causes:- The agriculture couldn’t be able to carry out the
same benefits because of the slaves.- On the other side, the north of the country had a
more industrial economy, because of the first industrial revolution.
• Politics causes:
- In 1869 Abraham Lincoln, won the elections of the U.S.A.
- He implemented a program to abolish protectionist and a supporter of slavery.
- Then, the to sides come to carry out the civil war.
SIDES
• The two opposing sides were:– The forces of the Northern States (the Union)– The Confederate States of America,
composed of eleven Southern states that declared their independence

• The presidents were:– James Buchanan– Abraham Lincoln– Andrew Johnson
CONSEQUENCES OF THE WAR
• Heavy losses on both sides } 600.000 dead and 8.000 million dollars
• USA become an industrial economic power
• Booming industry• Urban population grow• In the south, the slaves were officialy
released• There arise a new middle class
• The problems with black americans become a racial issue, social and political.
• The black americans get civil rights in 1868 an in 1870 the right to vote
• Liberal Republicans tryed to clean up the political life
• Administrative ineffiency and corruption
