Artificial Intelligence

• Definition: artificial intelligence is The study and design of a system that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chances of success.

Page 3: Artificial intelligence 1

Wishes

• Solving complex problems: - To develop our technology, we need a machine

that solves difficult problems and provides an answer of any complex question by reasoning and analysis.

Page 4: Artificial intelligence 1

Wishes

• Fast work machine: We need a machine that do all the work and

calculations in short period of time in order to develop our technology fast.

Page 5: Artificial intelligence 1

Invention

• First Electronic computer invented in 1949, the technology finally became available to create machine intelligence.

Page 6: Artificial intelligence 1

In 1949, the stored program computer was invented . It made the job of entering a program easier, which made the AI possible.

Invention• In 1956, John McCarthy regarded as the father of AI, organized

the Dartmouth conference that brought together the founders in AI, and the groundwork for the future of AI research.

• The Logic Theorist, considered by many to be the first AI program was developed in 1956.

Page 8: Artificial intelligence 1

Invention

• In 1957, the first version of a new program The General Problem Solver(GPS) was tested. It was capable of solving a greater extent of common sense problems.

• In 1958 McCarthy announced his new development; the LISP language, which is still used today. LISP stands for LISt Processing, and was soon adopted as the language of choice among most AI developers.

Invention

In 1970, the expert system was invented. predicts the probability of a solution under set of conditions. Because of the large storage capacity of computers at the time, expert systems had the potential to interpret statistics, to formulate rules.

Impact

-Creating intelligent machines that are smarter than human will result an explosion of intelligence, which is the end the human era.

- Societies will be out of business if there are alternative smarter machines.

Page 11: Artificial intelligence 1

Adapting

• Adapting AI because it is much smarter than humans.

• Provides answers to the complex problems faster than humans.

Page 12: Artificial intelligence 1

Commercial Introduction

• Substitution: -Companies don’t have to pay salaries for the

artificial intelligence machines. It is necessarily to have AI if the company doesn’t have enough money.

Page 13: Artificial intelligence 1

Enabling Technology

- Artificial intelligence helps to develop the bimolecular revolution. For example, the personal DNA codes are analyzed by intelligent machine. Artificial intelligence will help the molecular technology to be able to solve many genetic diseases.

Data

• The first digital mechanical calculator was invented in 1623 and the first commercially successful device was produced in 1820.

• In the 1980s, the government made the GPS system available for civilian use, such as in cars and it is considered one of the intelligent technology that provides the locations and works in any weather conditions .

Page 15: Artificial intelligence 1

Data

• Robots making use of Artificial intelligence have been built since the 1960s. Unimate , the first industrial robot began work on the General Motors assembly line in 1961.

Page 16: Artificial intelligence 1

Data

• Banks use artificial intelligence systems to organize operations. In August 2001, robots beat humans in a simulated financial trading competition.

• An artificial neural network was first proposed in 1943 by Warren McCulloch. It designed to recognize patterns in data and predict an output from a given set of information.

Page 17: Artificial intelligence 1

Data

• In the early 1990s, several scientists from the NASA-Ames team joined the Stanford Research Institute to develop telemanipulator for hand surgery.

• A voice-activated robotic system for endoscopic surgery was developed in 1993.

Forecast

• Future inertia(2010-2020): - Your bills and deposits are automatically

managed because computer systems have learned your payment schedule.

- Robots will be used in the army instead of humans.

Page 19: Artificial intelligence 1

Forecast

• Future choice(2020-2050):- Your car does your driving for you.- Many companies will depend on the artificial

intelligent applications to solve and analyze their problems instead of human brain, such as banks.

- Most of the surgery and human health problems will be solved by robots.

Page 20: Artificial intelligence 1

Forecast

• Future indeterminate(2050-2100):- Robots handle your housecleaning, yard work

and cooking.- The number of population will increase and

there will be no enough space in the earth ; therefore, all the stores and companies will be only available in the internet since we have intelligent network.

• The Number of computer increased and reached the number of US population in 1945, which tells that the number of computer is doubling faster than the number of US population.

Disadvantages of AI

• Many people will not be employed since there is intelligent machines that do the work.

• Humans brains will not be smarter enough in the future since they depend on the AI to solve all their problems.
