Adrian Ghenie Adrian Ghenie (n.1977) is a Romanian

painter. Adrian Ghenie divided his life between Romania and Germany until 2013, but, eventually, he chose Berlin, where he is considered the representative of the new wave of the Romanian Visual Art. Ghenie’s work is represented in numerous major museums and public collections including the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art, Antwerp, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Ghent.

‘’George Enescu’’ Festival„George Enescu” Festival is a Romanian musical event of international prestige, initiated in 1958, in memory of the Romanian composer and virtuoso violinist George Enescu. It was due to be carried out every three years, being accompanied by an international competition, discontinued thereafter and resumed with the 1991 edition. Among the personalities who participated at the inaugural edition, there were important names: singers such as Yehudi Menuhin, David Oistrah, Halina Czerny-Stefanka, Nadia Boulanger, Monique Haas, Iacov Zak or Claudio Arrau, conductors: Sir John Barbirolli, Carlo Felice Cillario or Carlo Zecchi. It was resumed after the 1989 Revolution, in 1991, every two years in Bucharest.

‘’George Enescu’’ FestivalAlong the years, at the festival held at the Romanian Athenaeum and at the Radio Room, orchestras and musicians of great prestige participated such as the Philarmonic Orchestra from Vienna, conducted by Herbert von Karajan, the Philarmonic Orchestra from Stockholm, conducted by Sergiu Celibidache and the Philarmonic Orchestra from London, conducted by Sir John Barbirolli.

Angela GheorghiuAngela Gheorghiu - Romanian soprano, one of the most famous opera singers in the world, graduated the Conservatory from Bucharest in 1990. In 1999 she participated at the concert “Michael Jackson and Friends” in Munchen. She performed at the reopening of the Royal Opera House (December, 1999), the Malibran Theatre from Venice (May, 2001) and the Opera from Valencia in front of Queen Sofia of Spain (October, 2005). She participated at the performance which marked Queen Elisabeth II’s Jubilee, Prom at the Palace (June, 2002), concert available on DVD. In 2003 she took part in the concert held on the occasion of the Nobel Prizes Ceremony.

Her discs were awarded more than once with prizes such as: Grammy Prize, Dyapason D'or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Cecillia Prize, Deutsche Schallplattenkritik, Musica e dischi, USA Critics Award, „Premio Zenatello” or „Echo Klassik”.Angela Gheorghiu was granted the title of “Artist of the Year” at Classical Brit Prizes in 2001 and 2010.

Herta Müller“The Animal of the Heart” (in German - Herztier) is a

novel written by Herta Müller and published in 1993 in

Germany. The novel portrays four young people living

under the totalitarian police regime during the

Communist Dictatorship from Romania. The narrator

is a young German woman, just like the author

herself. According to her own claim, Müller wrote this

book „in memory of her Romanian friends who were

killed under Ceausescu’s regime. ”

Herta MüllerThe novel was translated in English by Michael Hofmann

and it was published in 1996 and 1998 in the USA. The

English translation of the novel was awarded, in 1998,

the prestigious International Prize IMPAC Dublin Literary

Award, the most generous prize for a single fiction work

published in English.

After the announcement of the award of the Nobel Prize

in Literature in 2009 to the writer Herta Müller, the novel

“The Animal of the Heart” entered the bestseller list on

the site Amazon.com.
