The primary audience of my music video will clearly be fans of the band ‘The Pretty Reckless’. Being a fan of an artist means they will be aware of their new releases therefore they are most likely to view the video when they first hear the song or go on to view it to see new footage of their favourite band. They may consider the music videos of the band very important as this is the way they display the song to the pubic therefore the first views of the music video are likely to be from the dedicated fans as they are the first ones to become aware of their upcoming releases.

Apart from fans of the band, the primary audience will also consist of fans of the rock genre itself. Rock fans will be aware of current rock music therefore are more likely to view new rock music videos than fans of other music genres.

It is also important to note that ‘The Pretty Reckless’ are an American band so their music is likely to be released in America first. This means the majority of the audience may also be American.

I also believe because of the meaning/theme behind the song itself and the video is about some sort of heartbreak, the audience of the video may be going through a similar scenario. People in a similar situation may watch the video in order to help understand what they are going through; this type of audience may be able to relate to the video just as much as the previous audiences I have mentioned.

Stereotypically, females have also been known to listen to many romantic songs. I believe this ballad is very romantic through it’s emotional lyrics therefore another primary audience of my music video could be females. Female audience members may also be able to connect to the female lead singer more so than the male viewers. This means my primary audience may consist of a higher percentage of females.

Due to the band being new and current and the lead singer being only 21, their typical audience is quite young (late teens – mid twenties). Yet, leader singer Taylor Momsen says their fans vary in both age and gender.

They are most likely to be American due to them being an American band.

The audience will consist of people also going through a heartbreak.

The ages of my audience will be 16-25. Although there are more males within the alternative

rock genre, I believe females will be able to connect to the lead singer more. Therefore a slightly higher percentage will be females - 60% to 40% males.

They will usually be of white ethnicity. They will normally keep up to date with artists

through social network sites.
