During Instruction

• Each student is to give his/her undivided attention to whomever has the floor.

• Student is to take notes and complete work as necessary.

• Each student is to stay in his/her assigned seat unless:– Instructed by the teacher to be out of his/her seat.– He/she is bleeding uncontrollably. – He/she is going to vomit.

Page 30: Beginning of year power point

During Instruction Continued

If you feel you need to be out of your seat for any reason, other than those stated in the previous slide, YOU MUST HAVE SPECIFIC PERMISSION FROM THE TEACHER.

Use the “Signal” for getting the attention of the teacher to ask permission to be out of your seat.

Page 31: Beginning of year power point

During group work

You will work with the group that you are put in.

All members will contribute to the group and the final product.

You will keep each other on task. You will stay with your group THE

WHOLE TIME.

Page 32: Beginning of year power point

During individual work/ practice You will work quietly by yourself. You will stay in your assigned seat. You may collaborate, unless instructed

otherwise, with a person/people at your table if you need help with the given assignment. This must be done quietly and without disturbing

other students. This does NOT mean you can do the whole assignment together. Use Voice Levels assigned

Page 33: Beginning of year power point

Testing

Testing is completely silent from the moment the first test goes out until the final test is collected.ANY talking or communicating of any kind will be viewed and treated as cheating. Cheating will result in lowering of test scores and possible failure of that test.

Page 34: Beginning of year power point

If we ever have to leave the room as a class:

Students will stand up at their seats at the teacher’s instruction.

Upon the teacher’s direction, students will silently line up at the door in a straight line.

Students will remain in a straight, silent line; on the right side of the hallway, using the tiles in the hallway as a guide, until we reach our destination.

There will be no talking in the hallways.▪ Other classes are in session. We will not disturb them.

Page 35: Beginning of year power point

Speakers and Assemblies

Students are expected to be on their best behavior. You are 8th graders and expected to set the

example for the younger students. Students are to stay with the class unless

told otherwise. Students are to act accordingly to the event

Speaker= attentively listening Assembly= have fun and get loud. Cheer for

EVERYONE.

Page 36: Beginning of year power point

In Case of Emergency

Stay calmListen to and follow directions Stay with the class unless instructed by the teacher to do something different

Stay silent in order to hear instructions

Page 37: Beginning of year power point

Fire

The Alarm is one long bell. It reminds me of someone saying,

“FIIIIIIIRE!” Leave your things and silently line

up. Stay in line and silently go to the

designated area outside. Stand silently in line and wait for

instruction.

Page 38: Beginning of year power point

Tornado

The alarm is three short bells. Sounds like, “ Tor-na-do”

Silently line up. Go down the designated stairs Silently sit against the lockers in the

downstairs hallway. Put your head down and cover your

neck. Wait silently for instructions.

Page 39: Beginning of year power point

Lock Down

This means that there is some reason why you need to stay locked in the classroom.

In some cases it will need to seem as though the classroom is empty. Students will leave their things and

silently get into the corner in the front of the room by the student pantry.

No student will be permitted to leave the room during this time for any reason.

Page 40: Beginning of year power point

Borrowing

To borrow means that the person whom you borrowed from has given you explicit permission to borrow that item and that said item will be returned before the end of class.

I will allow students to borrow class necessities when I deem fit; however, if a student fails to ask permission FIRST, I will assume that student is stealing.

If a student does not return “borrowed” items, I will be very disappointed. If happens more than once the appropriate consequences will follow.

Page 41: Beginning of year power point

At the End of Class

Wait until you are instructed to begin cleaning and packing up. The bell does NOT dismiss you; the

teacher dismisses you. Take everything with you. Quickly and quietly exit the

classroom.

Page 42: Beginning of year power point

Lunch

notify the teacher. We will work in class until the

designated leaving time.

When we reach the lunch room, students are to stay in line, in the order they left the room.

Students may talk very quietly at this point; however, they must pay attention to the movement of the line.

You may not leave line without permission for any reason.

Page 44: Beginning of year power point
