realized through the isw GmbH and the cooperation of companies and vocational schools of the German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt

promoted by ESF and by public funds

preparation and learning stage (E-learning at home or in the company)

is one of the main city squares and the centre of the business and cultural communities in the New Town

many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings

the square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia

it is part of the historic centre, a World Heritage Site

is a famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river (Moldau)

its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the beginning of the 15th century

replaced the old Judith Bridge that had been badly damaged by a flood in 1342

this new bridge was originally called the Stone Bridge or the Prague Bridge but has been the "Charles Bridge" since 1870

is a Gothic tower in Prague

it is one of the original city gates, dating back to the 11th century

is a universal bank operating in the Czech Republic

was established by the state in 1964 as a bank

to provide foreign trade financing and convertible currency operations

it was privatized in June 1999

KBC Bank, a member of Belgium’s KBC group, became the majority owner

ČSOB took over Investiční a Poštovní banka, a.s. in June 2000

4. Operational task

How is the apprenticeship organized in a company in Czech Republic and Croatia compared to a company in Germany?

the most frequent form is the dual education

competent bodies are the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Chamber of Crafts (HWK)

• decide on shortening or lengthening of the training period, as well as on admission to the final exam

• monitor the implementation of vocational education

• advise trainers and trainees

• appoint a vocational training advisor

• determine the qualification of training centers and trainers

• establish audit committees and enact examination regulations

• conduct interim examinations and final examinations

the theoretical part is mediated in a vocational school and the practical part in a company

the vocational education in a company is regulated by the federal government and social partners

4.2. vocational education system in Czech Republic

in total there are 275 different professional qualifications

the responsibility for education lies primarily with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports

support from the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Education

there is no dual vocational education as is the German custom

the practical part in the companies is mostly limited to the summer months in the form of an internship

the vocational education take place in a vocational school and ends with a professional degree

upgrade training courses are offered by various organisations and institutions such as private educational institutions, public and private schools, employers organisations

4.3. vocational education system in Croatia

Ministry of Science, Education and Sports is responsible for the education

there are vocational education courses at various schools such as technical schools, art schools, trade and industrial schools

since 1995 the dual education was gradually extended on the german model

2003 the dual vocational education was regulated by law

Students have to show a training contract with a company and the corresponding company have to prove a licence issued by the chamber

the dual vocational training regualtions of the craft to be adopted by the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Crafts and in consultation with the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports

5. Summary

I‘m glad to have participated in this internship. It was a very informative journey.

During the internship, we learned a lot about the economic situation in the countries of central and eastern Europe. I‘m very interested in the organisation of the educational system in the Czech Republic and Croatia. It shows me a lot of contrasts to Germany.

This makes me richer in experience and I have to say:
