Close-Up

A close-up is where the footage is taken from close range, showing the character or object on a larger scale.

For an artist this invokes brand identity as the audience get face to face with the artist, so they recognise images of the artist.

Also there is a sense of intimacy between the artist and the audience, as the artist is directly addressing them through notion of looking.

• Wide Shot – Allows the audience to get an understanding of the surroundings of the environment

• Tracking shot – allows the audience to follow the actions of the artist

• High and low angles- shows to the audience the artist looking powerful and vulnerable

• Extreme close-up- this could be linked to a Goodwin's principles lyrics linked to visuals, through zoom in to lips for lip-syncing.

Editing

• Fast Cut montage – hard to grab image, so audience watch again

• Slow pace and subtle transaction – create mood

• Editing to link music with visuals (Goodwins Principle) cut from shot to shot with the pace of the music

• Digital effects – Split screen; can create a mirrored effect

• Enhance colours – makes shot stand out, draws audience attention

• Black & white
