Where is Canterbury?

Canterbury is in the far South Eastern tip of England. It is near London and France.

Thomas BecketLived between 1118 – 1170

He dared to say ‘No’ to King Henry 2nd. He argued over the rights and privileges of the

Church. He was murdered by followers of the king in Canterbury Cathedral.

After his death, he was made a Saint. He is known as Saint Thomas of Canterbury

He is featured in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.In medieval times, pilgrims paid homage to him
