The Question

According to School Library Journal survey data• Only 29% of elementary libraries have eBook access

now.• 82% expect to have eBook access within five years.

Our own survey data show that 89% of our customers expect to spend 30% of their budgets on digital purchases within the next two years.

How will libraries move from here to there?

Library digital products for success

IF the goals of a digital implementation are:• To reduce the places students go for information.• To invigorate the library.• To make the library the hub of all learning and

thinking.• To satisfy requests from students, parents and staff• To not lock into an orphan or proprietary technology.

Digital Success

Than please consider the following as it relates to implementing digital library products.• ALL Digital products purchased by the library should include

MaRC records.• ALL resources including digital should be loaded into the

ALREADY existing and functional tool that everyone uses for finding resources… the library catalog.

• Stay away from platforms that hold the items you BUY and require you to continue using them to access YOUR eBooks.
