Students can choose to do a Bachelor of Computer Science, majoring in Multimedia and Game Development

• Introduced to the BCompSci 2 years ago• Subjects in the major

– 3D Modelling & Animation, Computer Graphics, Game Development, Game Engine Fundamentals, Multimedia Computing

• Communication and team work encouraged• Students get to work on game related final year group projects• Started the ‘UOW Game Making Club’ this year

– Run by students with support from staff

– Provides assistance and exposure outside the curriculum

– Opportunity for students to meet and discuss matters related to game development

What was the competition about?

• Organized by– Independent Game Developers Association (IGDA)

• Brisbane chapter

– Hosted by Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

• The challenge– Develop a game in 48 hours based on 3 mystery keywords that

would only be supplied at the start of the competition

• 20 teams in total– 3 pro-league teams (professionals)

– 17 normal teams

• 2 teams from UOW
