I took inspiration from the original music video by using lots of different close ups. In this example I used a close to make the audience have a relationship with the action and the performer. Close ups are common in most genres of music but are always in Rock music videos, so to follow the codes and conventions more closely I used them in many areas. To represent the genre I used a leather jacket because it is associated with the rock genre. Furthermore I dressed the drummer (Antonio in leather) also to make the association with the genre. I wanted to make this strong link to the genre because then it makes it clear what my audience should be.

• The inspiration I took from the lead guitarist in the original footage was the mise-en-scene. I chose to use a similar guitar so that it it re-enforces the type of genre of the music. Furthermore I dressed him in iconic rock clothes (band t-shirts and black cloths) this was to make him look more like a dirty rocker which personifies the genre.

• In this shot I wanted to make them similar because it relates to the original video, furthermore it conforms to the codes and conventions of the genre because it represents the band as a whole unit and not just about the different members on their own.

• By using this shot of the bass guitarist I wanted to relate my music video more closely, so used the shot on the left as the basis for my own footage. She is following the codes and conventions of the genre because of the way she is dressed (‘Kiss’ band T-shirt which is a homage to the band, black colours, hair style looks more wild like the bassist in the original video, her performance in the video however makes the humour element more evident.

This shot influenced what I would do in my video shoot because it cuts to the drummer for a second to see him do a drum fill before the next sequence. So I wanted to utilise this use of fast editing so as to give a sense of pace and energy to that scene. It also gives the drummer more scene time which makes the band seem more like a unit instead of a backing band. I also wanted to focus on the use of lighting in this scene. I did this by using a purple flood light which gave the scene a more performance video feel. This therefore follows the codes and conventions of a rock music video.

• For this segment of the music video I focused on the location. I wanted to include a studio placed performance because that is part of the codes and conventions of a rock music video genre. I wanted to use all the same props and costume so that audience would not be confused as to why there was a change in location. I wanted to make the audience feel as though they saw the location change and nothing else. If I re-shot this fragment I would use all the same props (same drum kit, and the same bass guitar)

• The reason I wanted to use lots of close ups of the instruments, was to show the audience the musician ship of the performers as a band. This taught me that close ups of the bands instruments makes the performance more enjoyable. This follows the codes and conventions of a rock music video because it makes the performance look more real which is what the audience want to be watching.

• I interpreted this shot by taking inspiration of the man performer being on top of the camera, but instead I decided to have myself come down into the shot upside-down. I wanted to do this shot because it makes this element of humour but also makes the lead singer seem like the silly, quirky one in the band. Therefore representing the band more as a group of friends rather than just a band. This is what I wanted to achieve because I wanted there to be a friendly feel to the band. This obeys stays the codes and conventions to a rock music video because it bring a sense of friendship to the band.
