Step 2- Summarize your colonies best features
• Brainstorm at least five “best features” of your colony to include on your poster. You should include features for each of these topics:
• Economy/Opportunities• Reasons for Settlement• Geography and Climate
• Religion • Government
• Or, Any topic that works for YOUR colony!• Choose features that make the colony sound like an appealing
place to live, but make sure it’s factual. - 5 boxes, 1 topic per box, 2 complete sentences each -

Step 3- Create a poster highlighting the colony’s best features
• Your poster should be visually appealing, informative, and creative.
• It must have:– Your slogan.– Your sentences/boxes from step 2.– 5 visuals (SYMBOLS), one per topic/box
• Make print large enough for someone to read from 5 ft away. (So plan the layout first. No white space.)
• Use a ruler to make straight lines.
HELPFUL HINTS1. Plan LAYOUT first.2. Divide the jobs so that everyone is
actively working- 1 person can make layout
- 1 person can make visuals (on computer paper)
- 2 people can make text boxes (on
computer paper or on poster)
3. Text should be visible from 5 ft.- Plan layout carefully. No white space!

Step 4+5-Brainstorm and rehearse your jingle
• The sales presentation will include a musical jingle that promotes colony’s best features. 4-8 line jingle
• You can make your own tune or create a jingle from a familiar tune such as:– Row, Row, Row -- Dreidel, Dreidel– Jingle Bells -- Twinkle– Jingle Bell Rock -- You Are My Sunshine– Yankee Doodle -- Mary Had A Little Lamb– Rudolph -- Dashing through the Snow

Step 6-Create your Sales presentation (infomercial)
• Each colony will have 3 minutes to present your colony to the booth’s visitors.
• The presentation should be both educational and entertaining.
• It should also refer to your poster and include your musical jingle.
• Determine the order in which you will talk about each topic, when you sing the jingle, and anything else you might do to highlight your colony’s feature.
Step 7-Rehearse your Sales presentation
• Have Team A and Team B rehearse your sales presentation.
• Make sure the presentation is easy to follow and lasts no longer than 3 minutes.
