Proper Nouns are capitalized

Examples: Tommy, Shirley Hills, Thomas Edison

Not an example: boy, school, inventor

Common Nouns

Common nouns name any general person, place or thing.

Common nouns are not capitalized

Example: ocean, team, principal

Not an Example: Pacific Ocean, Minnesota Vikings, Mr. Eidsness
