PhonicsPhonics 5 phonics lessons a week. Taught in whole class Revisit, Teach, Practise, Apply Phase 3 (taught in reception, revised in year 1 & year 2). Phase 5 (taught throughout year 1 and year 2). Phonics screening in June. Children will have extra support with sounds they may

struggle with Extra support in the afternoons so they keep up with the

year 1 program of study

Reading at ValleyReading at Valley Guided/group Reading Home reading – books changed twice a

week WE WANT YOU - Reading helpers needed! Teachers will hear everyone read at least

once a week in guided reading. Big focus on comprehension
