Drafted the first ever “Purchase Rules, UVAS-2005” which were appreciated by the Finance & Planning Committee and subsequently by the Syndicate of the University in their meetings held on 07—03-2005 and 18-04-2005, respectively. By virtue of these rules and other efforts, import of
equipments and consumables were started on C&F basis instead of FOR basis and in this way genuine items have been purchased and millions of rupees of national foreign exchange have been saved. An appreciation letter in this regard has already been issued by the worthy Vice Chancellor,
UVAS, on 06-06-2005.
Responded to an Outbreak of unusual skin problem in Bovines at a big stake holder’s (Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Minnais) farm at Tibba Sultan, Vihari, on May 21, 2005.
Briefed worthy Governor of the Punjab, Lt. Gen ( r ) Khalid Maqbool, on his visit to UDL on March 11, 2005, about the services rendered by UDL to the farmers and stake holders of the Punjab province and progress of the UDL-Animal House Project funded (Rs. 38.108 millions) by HEC,
Islamabad.
Recommendation formulated on Animal Health for “Role of Livestock in Poverty Reduction” by
UVAS as requested by L&DD Department Punjab for development of Futuristic Vision of Livestock Sector, on May 26, 2005.
Recommendation formulated for rations of animals and for Developing standards for culling of Friesian outlived animals maintained at dairy farms of RV&FC, Pakistan.
In response to MOU with NIBGE of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, a higher powered committee constituted and groups including a group on Molecular characterization of Canine
Distemper Virus for its characteristics and serotyping headed by Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani of University Diagnostic Lab, UVAS, Lahore, on February 24, 2005.
Attended an “Outbreak in Blue Bull (Nilgai) Stock”, at Wildlife Breeding Farm, Jallo National Park, Lahore, as requested by Punjab Wildlife Department, Lahore, on January 24, 2005.
Attended an “Unusual outbreak in disease of Black Bucks and Hog Deers”, at Wood Land Wildlife Park, Raiwind Road, Lahore, as requested by Punjab Wildlife Department, Lahore, on Dec ., 2004.
Collaborative efforts were made with Deptt. of Theriogenology, UVAS, in solving the Chronic case of reproductive disorders from cattle and buffaloes at Rakh Dera Chahl Farm, Lahore. Detailed
investigations and sampling was made by Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad and his colleagues and then samples were handed over to UDL. All the 20 samples were thoroughly investigated for bacterial isolations, culture and sensitivity studies. As per these findings and thorough discussions, treatment
was started by Prof. Nasim and remarkable results were obtained in the form of amelioration of the problem and many of these repeaters animals conceived by the organized and collaborative efforts.
