Understanding how university works so that we could get used to the styles of teaching and the idea of tutorials and lecturers and being prepared for different types of lecture styles and lab skills.

It really prepared me for the style of content delivery… Starting uniin semester 1 felt like a much more natural process because of this course.
Basically just learning to be a student again. As a mature age student it's been a long time since I had to study, take notes, sit through lectures etc, so it was great to practice that a bit before the real thing.
Unfortunately gave me an unrealistic expectation for how fun/interactive the vast majority of my lectures would be, or at least gave the impression that more would be interactive.

Constructing knowledge for ourselves helped me to understand the content better.
I found that the skills I've learnt in the bio pracs were most useful and saved me a lot of time… in class.
Provided a great foundation to build not just first [semester] but my entire biological future.

The workshops allowed me to create an understanding of particular concepts when we had to make our own flow diagrams, etc

Just getting familiar with the people, environment and atmosphere of uni in general. This helped me prepare for semester one.
And sourcing out the best coffee place on campus...
The bridging course gave me an idea of how to effectively work in a team in a biology lab, as well as teaching me the key concepts Ineeded for first year bio. I also made really good friends during the course; we still keep in contact.
I felt this course connected me to the uni, the faculty of biology, and made me feel comfortable before day 1 even started!
The bridging course helped me to feel more confident going into semester 1.

There were timelines and content to work through in groups and personally, which prepared me for the many different types of work in University. It also prepared me for difficult group situations and the importance of communication.
The workshops were helpful in developing problem solving strategies.
This course also really helped me understand the dynamic of making friends/interactive learning, as well as independent learning.
This bridging course… eased me in comfortably, which significantly boosted my confidence in my ability to study science and has encouraged me to pursue a science based course for my post-graduate degree.
Bridge to a new learner identity• Student-centred course heavily supported with
technology• Less content, more context
• Focus on building higher education learner identity
