Perfect Timing

This is a great time for DUSC to work on its social media strategy

...because it is a new org. that is still working on (1) it's internal structure, and (2) it's presence on campus.

STRUCTURE: Small core of committee members who plan events for greater student involvement.

This makes social media a very important tool to attract a large audience of potential volunteers to participate in DUSC events.

Strategy

DUSC has the tools to build a successful social media strategy

...but doesn't know how to use them. The number/types of social media platforms that DUSC is signed up to use (Facebook, Google, Instagram, Twitter) is appropriate for its target audience. What DUSC lacks is (1) a team of social media promoters, and (2) a culture of social media usage in general.

PLAN

(1) Establish a marketing/public outreach chair position on DUSC Board

(2) Hold a social media workshop for the new Board in the Fall

"Crystal Ball"

• Main channels: Twitter, Facebook & Instagram (integrated)

• DUSC leaders will be encouraged to update: PICTURES

• Focused campaigns around specific events where students can get involved

• Target audiences that are most likely to participate (e.g. - classes with a service requirement, greek-letter organizations, etc.)

This is what we hope to see happening with DUSC's social media next Fall:
