ACADEMY OF MODENA

The Military Academy of Modena is aninstitute of military training. Located in the Ducal Palace in Modena. The Accademy is

open both to men and women, provides the initial training to future officers of the Army

and the Italian Carabinieri corps.

DUCAL PALACEThe Ducal Palace of Modena is a baroque palace in

Modena, Italy.

The Palace has a Baroque facade.

It was the residence of the Este Dukes of Modena between 1452 and 1859.

It currently houses a portion of the Italian MilitaryAcademy.

The palace occupies the site of the former Este Castle,once in the outskirts of the city. It wasbuilt by Bartolomeo Avanzi,under the adviceand guidance of Pietro da Cortona,Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini in the designing process .

The salottino d’oro (“Golden Sitting Room”) covered with gilden revomable panels, is one of the most luxurious rooms and it was used by Duke Francis III as his mainoffice.
