Cities occupy just 0.4% of the land surface, but they concentrate half the world population, 3,200 millions of souls, according to United
Nations
It is expected that the urban population of Asia and Africa to double over the next few years, and if
the trend is not reversed, will reach 3,400 million people in 2030.
Of the 33 cities in the world will have more than eight million people in 2015, 21 are on the coast or as close to it that will be forced to take drastic
measures against the rising sea level due to rising temperatures
The study identifies Tokyo, Mexico, New York, Sao Paulo, Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta, Shanghai,
Jakarta and Buenos Aires as the crowds more vulnerable to storm surges and earthquakes.
