Elastin

Is found in skin and tissue of the body. It is a protein in connective tissue that

is elastic and allows many tissues in the body to resume their shape after stretching or contracting.

It is a protein that helps to keep our skin flexible but tight.

It also helps keep skin smooth as it stretches to accommodate normal activities like flexing a muscle or opening and closing the mouth to talk or eat.

rubber bands. It helps skin to

return to its original position when it is poked or pinched

Elastin

Multiple copies of the tropoelastin protein attach to one another and are processed to form a mature protein

Tropoelastin has some secondary structure, mainly alpha-helices and beta-turns but does not form any stable tertiary structure. Even the secondary structure can be lost as the microenvironment changes until they are linked into an elastin fiber which stabilizes them.

It is created by fibroblasts which are a type of connective tissues.

The capacity of fibroblasts goes on decreasing as we grow older.

Damaged Elastin

Once our body tissues loose their elasticity, they can never regain it.

It can be reduced or damaged due to various reasons like stress, hormones and smoking

It can be also due to aging. As the body and its organs loose elasticity,

our body’s functioning is also affected. Elastin is also damaged due to

overexposure to sunlight

Elastin

Used for skin-care products Anti-aging creams Skin Renewing Face Treatment Body Lotion Used as a coating on collagen patches for

injuries. The addition of an active form of elastin to the

skin’s surface has the potential to reduce the requirement for drugs or cosmetic surgery procedures, making it a highly cost effective and safe alternative.
