Class Rules

1. Turn off cell phones during class or put in “mute” mode, and put all cell phones OUT OF SIGHT. Disregarding this rule will result in point de-ductions from your participation grade. There will be times when I allow you to turn on phones for class activities. 2. Be on time to class. If you are not in class by the time your name is called during roll call, you will be considered late. Please note that roll call will usually occur at the beginning of class. If you are late by more than 30 minutes, you will be marked absent for the day; however, you are welcome to attend the rest of class. If you are late three times, it will be considered one absence. If you leave before the class is over, you will be marked absent. 3. Each student is allowed one absence for sickness and one absence for official school related activity per semester. In the case that you are sick, you must submit an original note from the doctor with dates and explanation. To be excused from class for school activities, bring an offi-cial stamped note from the school. In accordance with school policy, you will fail the course if you are absent five times.

4. Quizzes, Midterm Exam, Final Exam Under most circumstances, you will not be able to make up quizzes or ex-ams so do NOT be absent on those days. If an emergency case arises, you must contact me by email right away and before the next class; otherwise, you will receive a “0” grade for missed quizzes or exams.  5. Everyone begins with a 6/10 (total possible: 10/10) “Participation” score at the beginning of the semester. You can gain up to 4 more points for a perfect 10/10 score, but you can also lose points. Your final participation grade will be determined by your enthusiasm and attitude in class through-out the semester.
