Planning ResearchFor the research of music videos to be able to plan our music video, we main used theinternet to be able to piece together what our music video should look like. We usedspecific websites like YouTube to be able to see what other music videos were like for thegenre we had chosen. Watching music videos helped up build up our understanding andessentially a profile of what folk videos should be like. To present our idea we used aninternet web app called SlideShare. This allowed us to turn our ideas into a presentable andpublishable way of showing our ideas. We used SlideShare to present our planning ideas forour treatment. We also used Microsoft Office to help plan our ideas such as our lightingplan and our risk assessment. These technologies helped me plan my ideas much betterand taught me that doing actual research can help make a product much more effectivelyand it makes the whole process much smoother if you know exactly what you are doing.

ConstructionFor the construction of our music video we tired to use the best technologies there wereto have the best outcome for our video, digipack and magazine advert. For the filming ofour video and the photos needed for the digipack and advert we used the Canon DSLRand Nikon DSLR cameras. We chose these because they have a much higher quality offilm and picture. The better the quality of the film and pictures, the better the overallproduct would look. These cameras we also more advanced with the options that it gaveyou. These cameras allowed for Pull Focus in certain shots which blurred out thebackground and focused on the actors in the video. For the lighting of our video we usedthe two Red Headlights. These are very strong lights, which helped create a shadows andgive light to certain places to make them look less dull and also darken our parts of thelocations that might draw attention from what we wanted to happen in a shot.

EditingAfter we had finished filming our video and taking photos for our digipack and magazine advert,we then used a multiple range of technologies to edit all our texts. Firs t the video. To edit thevideo together we used Final Cut Pro. This piece of software allowed us to edit our videotogether. We were able to use markers on the program to be able to line up the videos lipsyncing to the signing on the song. We could use crop to be able shorten and slow our videoclips down to the suitable level for the song. We could use the colour correct and saturation togive our video more colour and life. We also used Motion Plus to be able to add words over thetop of our video. To create the magazine advert we used Adobe Photoshop. It allowed us to adddetail to our advert on the selected photo we had chosen. We also used Photoshop to removethe background off advertising icons so they looked neater on the advert. We also usedMicrosoft Publisher to create the digipack. Publisher is a great way of creating thinks likedigipacks. Publisher can give template documents for the type of thing yours trying to make tohelp create a base for our digipack.

Evaluation

For the evaluation of our video; for the 4 different questions, we used 4 differenttechnologies. For question 1, we used the technology of Audio Commentary. We used aSony Voice Recorder to recorder what we wanted to say for this question. We thenuploaded it to Final Cut Pro, and simply edited it together. For question 2 we used VideoCommentary. To do this we used a standard camera to film our group talking about thedigipack and mag advert. After filming it we placed it into Final Cut Pro, edited it, and thenplaced screenshots from our video, over the top to show what we were talking about. Forquestion 3 we used a Prezi. This is an interactive PowerPoint that makes a presentation looknice with lots of animations. And for question 4 we used Microsoft PowerPoint, because it iseasy to use and simple to understand.

What I’ve LearntUses these technologies has taught me many things through out the course of making this music video. The internet has taught me how to become a better researcher and that planning does seriously help for future needs. I have learnt how to use property cameras and set u a lighting studio to give the best effects when filming. I have also learnt more about Final Cut Pro for AS course and extended my knowledge of Photoshop. I have also learnt how to make and use a Prezi to present ideas much more creatively. But I’ve also learnt how to use Blogger much more when uploading videos and embedding HTML codes to show PowerPoints.
