In what ways does your Media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media

products? There are examples of some ‘difference’, however, in terms of the forms and conventions in my own media product I have appealed to the same audience you can see this buy the title that I have used is similar in the words that I have used and the stile I have tried to copy. I have tired to used the same format that they have used such as the white background and with a gold main headline, ‘McCartney’, ‘The worlds best duet’. I have done this because it helps capture the readers eye because the contours. Also, I have just used the basic conventions such as barcode, main image. master head, images for cover lines, sub-headline and main- headline. My ‘Smooth Classic’ magazine is affiliated with ‘Classic FM’ so then it already has an audience. Therefore that audience, in theory, will become my audience too. The master head that I have use I quite similar in the wording as the original ‘classic FM’ where I have used the word classic in my master head ‘smooth classic’. So I have used for my sub-headlines image a black boarder around as they have used a white to symbolised and really show of the images that they have used. Alot the colour scheme of white and red black and gold has been repeated on to my magazine to make it even more similar to the magazine of inspiration.

How does your media product represent

particular social groups? The denotation of representation is that my magazine is aimed at a higher age group then other magazines. The old more wealthier generation would buy this magazine because stereotypically they would like this genre of music. Although, they could also not want to have this magazine because they don’t fit into the stereotype, same with a younger audience, they might like classical music and not fit their stereotype. Overall, it’s a very particular magazine, and would only appeal to those who like classical music because that is the heart and sole of the magazine.

In my opinion, my magazine doesn't portray the younger generation it concentrates on the older and smarter dressed social groups that have lived there life and are now enjoying their success and living a good life and enjoying classical music. In the media we see that younger generation is associated with hip hop and rap, whereas, on the other hand we see the older generation to have a quieter, relaxed life. Therefore we associate classical music with the older age group.

What kind of media institution (Publisher) might distribute your media product and why?

The Classic FM Magazine was amagazine that was published in the UK every month ,it was a radio before it was magazine. What they did was that they record the live performances and a lot of the time they included reacent hits. The magazine was launched in 1995, the magazine was published by John Brown Publishing. In July 2000 it was announced that the radio station had cancelled the contract with John Brown Publishing and signed a new agreement with Haymarket Publishing, to which company the magazine transferred in November 2000.

Who would be the audience for your media product and why?

Hartley’s seven subjectivities1) Age: The age group that we are aim at are the older members of society such as 40 and over.2) Gender: There is no specific gender that this magazine is aimed at.3) Class: You wouldn't fined many lower class people reading this magazine and the type of people that you fined who would purchase this

magazine.4) Ethnicity: I would have a English upper class and they would have English heritage throughout a very specific way of life and culture5) Self-image: The self-image of the audience of the magazine would be that they would look after them self and they would be well presented6) Nation: The nation of people that this would be aimed at is all English speaking country's but hopefully in the future we will want to expand to

other counts in Europe and then the hole world.7) Family

Katz’ Uses & Gratifications theorywhat the editors letter abele the readers to be able to build a personal relationship, this is Katz’ uses & gratification theory Personal IdentificationWhat my magazine dose is that it abeles people to be able relate to the people who right the articles and the musician because the whole classical

seen doesn't have the stardom as other types of music, so the people in this magazine live a life that people can relate to then if they where to read a pop magazine.

Inform and EducateMy magazine is grate for educating people because it talks about people lives and how they have achieved what they have achieved and what

they had to go though, it also talks about historic events that’s have happened and about buildings to which have history in.Maslow’s Hierarchy of needsSocial ClimbersThe social class of my magazine is that most of the upper middle and upper class mostly read it, so the people who are social climbers would read this

magazine because it tells you of very upper class social events, that a lot of smart people would go to. This magazine is serotyped as the type of music that upper class people, so people who want to be like them would start by listening to classical music which is what this magazine wrights about.

CaregiversThe problem with classical music is that it is rather hard to make a living from. There are a lot of musicians that don’t make it so for the musician that are

displaced and interviewed in this magazine have had to work incredibly hard to get to the place they are. Also there are so many musicians that have had to deal with huge hardships so a lot of readers sympathies with the musicians but also there is a huge amount of respect to them for what they have done and what they have archived.

This months issue of Smooth classic shows you what happening behind the seens of Catherine Botts plans with carrying on the yearly long celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, among much more go on our links to find out about more events

How did you attract/address your audience?

In order to attract the intended target audience of ‘Smooth classic’ I decided to really exploit the culture that this magazine has and the people who want to social clime, but there is an audience for classical music that are mostly. But there is a huge amount of history behind classical music it dates back to the 11th century so its been around for a very long time. Classical music is used in so many different ways from theatre productions to movies and people sing it on talent shows among many more so there is a huge audience for classical music any way.

The inclusion of codes & conventions such as the main image, help my audience ‘relate’ to their lifestyle and fashion because they are dresses appropraily in a way that people will be able to identify themselves with them.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of

constructing this product? The denotation of the software used to construct the media product entitled

‘smooth classic’ was so the I used was adobe Photoshop cs4 but some of the main tools that I used where text box, shape tool, faded rubber and the paint tool.

In order for this product to look fit for purpose and appeal to the target audience, I decided to create a sophisticated look using the darker colours and the faded tool it helped me because of the rich colours.

Looking back at your Preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it

to the full product?I feel that, having completed the preliminary task and

learning about the demands of this production process, I have learnt time keeping is essential in completing the work to a high standard. Time management is key to keeping it all running smoothly to a high level. Also by doing a preliminary task it allowed me to get use to how to use Photoshop and as I have never used it before I got the hang of it doing one before, rather then going straight into the main task. There is evidence of progression that I feel particularly demonstrates how I met the demands of the production process, for example in comparison, my preliminary task doesn't’t look as well done as my main task because I developed my learning from doing the preliminary task so I progressed as it got to the end of the music magazine. The image is right which is what I had used for my production task. They both use similar font with the head line but from what I have learnt is how to do the fade and adding more pictures and cropping them, also I made sure they went as fuzzy the 2nd time.
