EXCUTIVE SUMMARY

As an event organizing company S4U forming an event together with Karl Lagerfeld. The

report consist about event planning of Chanel cruise show 2017 in Colombo Sri Lankan.

Chapter two is about introduction to the company and to Chanel Fashion Company, including

history of the company and products their made. Apart of that chapter indicated profile of Karl

Lagerfeld. Report be made up of Cruise show and its history. For further understanding report

has given about Chanel cruise show 2015/16. Chapter three contain action plan of the event.

Each period describe of studying about hosting country to the day before the show schedule

of the event. However the company organize show, it should be specific to certain audience.

In case of that chapter four presenting the target audience of the show. Marketing plan is the

key role to an event. Chapter five categorize into the objective of marketing and how the event

promote to audience. Though the event planned and promoted further stages would be done

by sponsorships. Therefore the chapter six distributed importance of sponsoring, how the

company seek sponsors and benefits sponsors get from the event. Additionally chapter

indicated supporting sponsors such as financial, in kind, location, media, labour and signature.

1 EXCECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report was commissioned to report on organizing an event. Sprig4U together with Karl

Lagerfeld to organize Chanel Cruise Show 2017. Because Sri Lankan dressing sense is very

Unique with a heavy cultural and a traditional touch.

This will be held in May 5th, 6th & 7th 2017 at BMICH Colombo and cinnamon grand hotel. This

event is divided into further sub events as “Cruise Show”, “Street Walk”, “After Party” & Sri

Lankan Air Line Uniform Launch.

This will be organized by a good organizing team in Sri Lanka Spring for you. Chanel as an

international Fashion house it has a target market from a very reputed and a respected

background. So having an international event in Sri Lanka with such a target audience is a

great opportunity to this booming country.

To make this event a success we have built our action plan which starts up with the organizing

18 months prior to the event. According to this action plan we have developed out

organizational structure followed by a human resource plan to proceed with the event. Our

organizing committee is composed of 100 members with 150 co-workers divided into several

important committees to make the organizing process easy and achievable.

We also have a studied about our stake holder parties and the ways we can keep them

satisfied. The most important planning is about the sponsorship. We have pitched and

determined our in-kind sponsors, Location Sponsors, Labour Sponsors, media Sponsors and

main Financial Sponsors (vogue magazine & standard Charted bank). Our Signature sponsor

who is financing this event is Sri Lankan Airlines who receive massive benefits in exchange

to the support they provide.

On the other hand a very clear and a direct marketing plan has been executed through all

sort of popular media to promote the Cruise Show and reach the target market easily. Moving

on to the logistics plan it is comprised of providing all the main hospitality services of

accommodation and transportation to the invitees and guests of the Cruise Show which is

supported by Sri Lankan Airlines & Cinnamon Hotel Chain.

On the event day for the organizing to be effective we have made a check list to maintain all

the organizing tasks up to a standard.

“SPRIG4U” is an events organizing company

consists of five directors which the company

name denotes from. The sprig literary means

to be a small branch of a tree. The idea that we

emphasize is: Though we are just a branch in

the tree called events market, the small sprig

of us can make a huge impact on the market.

We are ensured to organize creative, sophisticated, innovative, and cut edge events. With

over the experience we’ve developed a rich knowledge of understanding of the event, art

of hospitality worlds; resulting our reputation creating unforgettable events.

As a company we are storytellers, believing that the experience of the event can have a

major impact on guests, it is our mission to ensure each and every event is thoughtfully

produced and curated to create a moment that forges lifelong impressions.

INTRODUCTION TO CHANEL FASHION COMPANY

Chanel has been guaranteed reputed fashion Company through its elegant style and

superior quality products.

The company's Headquarter is in New York and corporates many of the business

functions of Fashion, Watch and Fine Jewelry, and Fragrance and Beauté businesses.

All these functions depends on Merchandising, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations,

Store Design, Sales, Finance, Legal, and Human Resources departments.

Chanel S.A. functions worldwide through 310 Chanel boutiques, which are operating in

Asia (94), Europe (70), Middle East (10), North America (128), South America (2) and

Oceania (6)

Usually the shops are located in department stores, high streets, shopping districts, and

inside airports.

2.3.1 HISTORY OF CHANEL

In 1909 Gabrielle Chanel

(Coco Chanel) opened a

millinery shop in Males

herbs. In 1910 she did her

first independent millinery

shop as Chanel Modes.

After European fashion was

affected by the First World

War, Chanel had opened a

large dress shop with

flannel blazers, straight-line

skirts of linen, sailor

blouses, long sweaters

made of jersey fabric, and skirt-and-jacket suits.

In 1921 Coco Chanel decided to create perfume along with the Ernest Beaux and named

as perfume No.5. It formed opportunity to build popularity of the perfume prompted the

House of Chanel to offer it for retail sale in 1922. Meanwhile, Coco Chanel operated a

successful fashion studio near the Louvre museum in Paris.

In 1980, Alain Wertheimer’s successful work Chanel opened up more than 40 boutiques

worldwide. However, those shops sold $200-per-ounce perfume and $225 ballerina

slippers to $11,000 dresses and $2,000 leather handbags. In 1990 the company

expanded into new product lines with watches retailing for $7,000, new shoe line and

other high-priced clothes, cosmetics, and accessories. Considering successful growth

Chanel continued to expand its boutique chain and product line. Today Chanel marked

wide growth in the industry in product sale is $5.4 Billion (2015).

INTRODUCTION TO KARL LAGERFELD

Karl Lagerfeld was born in Hamburg Germany on September 10 in 1933 to Elisabeth

Bahlmann, Otto Lagerfeld. International Wool Secretariat sponsored design competition

in 1962, Lagerfeld won coats category.

The spring 1960 season were the shortest in Paris, and the collection was not well

received. Late 1960 collection, he designed special little hats, pancake shaped circles of

satin, which hung on the cheek. In 1963, he began designing for Tiziani, a Roman couture

house founded by Evan Richards. From 1972, he collaborated with Italian fashion house

Fendi, designing furs, clothing, and accessories.

He remark one of the applauded fashion designer in the world. Seeing his excellent

creations Vogue magazine hailed as the consummate interpreter. Known for his bold

design and constant reinvention he became head designer and creative director of the

fashion house Chanel

look at everything, forget everything, and then I do it my way,” ~ Karl Lagerfeld.

In 1919 a small mid-season collection proposed by Coco for her clients vacationing in

sunny climates gets a mention in American Vogue. It drew cultural and social change of

the emerging independent women power who practices sports and vacations in luxury

cruise liners which became fashionable in early 20th century.

The cruise how is all about Blending together the traditions of a wardrobe and the

modernity of a cosmopolitan style, the Cruise collection is about traveling. It’s all about

taking authentic & traditional elements and giving it a very modern twist.

HISTORY OF THE EVENT

2.6.1 CHANEL CRUISE SHOW 2015/16

Channel Cruise show 2015/16 was held on 4th may 2015 at

Dongdaemun Plaza Seoul South Korea. It was followed by Paris,

New

York, Los Angeles, Miami, Venice, Saint-Tropez, Cap d’Antibes,

Versailles, Singapore and Dubai, Chanel revived the Cruise spirit

in the Korean capital.

2.6.1.1 WHY SEOUL?

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is one of the world’s largest metropolises, with over 25

million inhabitants and lightning-fast internet connections, Seoul is a symbol of modernity,

at once a World Design Capital and one of the most committed green cities.

Yet such modernity does not exclude spirituality. Alongside high-tech developments, the

religions of Buddhism, Confucianism and shamanism remain part of South Korea’s make-

up. No building is built without a ritual appealing to the benevolence of the spirits, while

widespread belief in the philosophy of yin and yang is reflected in the design of South

Korea’s flag and inspired the region’s traditional hues of blue, white, red, black and yellow.

Vivid tokens of luck offering divine protection thus color everyday items, from traditional

costumes inspired by the Chôzon dynasty (1392-1910) – dubbed 'Hanbok' – to the faces

of young brides, who mark their cheeks with two red dots.

2.6.1.2 CHANEL CRUISE 2015/16 IN SEOUL

For the presentation of its Cruise 2015/16 collection, Chanel heads to the ultra-futuristic

Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, South Korea.. The mood proves energetic with

avantgarde leanings, as Karl Lagerfeld revisits local culture in a broad sense, from

traditional dress (THE HANBOK) to sugary K-Pop aesthetics.

Here, the occasional camellia or stylized locked-Cs motif

erupts on a multicolor stripe; there, subtle geometric

patchworks brim with a color-rush of fuchsia pink, celadon

and mint green, bright orange and coral, royal blue and

turquoise, with the same tones flavoring tweeds or played

out as single shades on jackets, suits and dresses.

Korean-style jackets with round shoulders and wide

sleeves sport raised or crossing collars that act as

flattering frames for the base of the neck. Skirts are straight

or flared, falling just above the knee; pants are cropped

and wide or fitted at the ankle. Solid and airy materials

mingle on looks, from textured cotton and patent leather to

linen, organza, tulle, lace and shantung.

A sprinkling of monochrome silhouettes mark the

shift from day to night, with in the after-dark camp

airy creations in floral and geometric

embroideries by Maison Lesage, Maison

Lemarié and Montex. Peter Pan collars interact

with busters while high waists come accented

with a strip of ribbon or velvet.

Bold jewelry designs – from chunky chain

necklaces and bracelets in gold and colored metals

to sugary cuffs, baroque pendants and stylized

camellias with graphic forms pinned in the hair and

on clothes – adorn the outfits, punctuated by heels

with squared-off toes or patent-leather Mary-Janes

with built-in socks. The house’s iconic bag sports all-over sequin embroidery or comes

revisited in multicolored tweed, interspersed with clutches and decorative clutches.

Graphic looks, refined volumes, abstract motifs, bright color palette -drawn from the

Korean aesthetic repertoire- the new Cruise collection transcribes the Chanel

WHAT REALLY HAPPNED

Cruise collection as mentioned before is all about digging into the roots of specific culture

and giving it a very modern twist. For the 2015/16 Chanel Cruise Collection, Karl

Lagerfeld gave a very modern twist to the Korean Culture and fashion adding the modern

trends of Korea; K-Pop, Architecture, and Technology to the traditional elements;

Buddhism, Nature, Hangeul (Korean alphabet), Hanbok (Korean traditional wear), Hanok

(Traditional architecture), and other mythical beliefs like Shamanism making the new

Cruise collection.

The hosting nation for this astounding event is the Democratic Socialist Republic of

Sri Lanka.

The governmental support for this show will be given by the government of Sri Lanka.

The hosting company of Chanel Cruise Show 2017 is Sprig 4 U. (S4U)

Hosting Group will be Chanel.

The hosting individual is Mr. Karl Lagerfeld, The head designer and creative director

of the fashion house Chanel.

The event Chanel Cruise Show will be hosted in Sri Lanka.

Channel Cruise show 2015/16 was held on 5th may 2017 at Colombo Sri Lanka. It was

followed by Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Venice, Saint-Tropez, Cap d’Antibes,

Versailles, Singapore and Dubai, Chanel revived the Cruise spirit in the Sri Lankan

capital.

WHY CHOOSED SRI LANKA for Chanel Cruise Show 2017

for five or more ethnic groups with different cultural values, Sinhalese,

Tamils, & Muslims with a small percentage of Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch,

Malays & Indian origins and also providing a second home for expects

from Asia & Europe.

Chanel heads to the ultra-futuristic with Sri Lankan flag, traditional dresses and heritage

destinations to prove Karl Lagerfeld revisits local culture in a broad sense from traditional

dress. Cruise collection as mentioned before is all about digging into the roots of specific

culture and giving it a very modern twist.

Traditionally during recreation the Sinhalese wear a sarong. Men may wear along-

sleeved shirt with the sarong, (A) while women wear a tight-fitting, short-sleeved jacket

with awrap-around called the cheeththaya (B). The Kandyan style (C) is considered as

the national dress of Sinhalese women, which consists of a full blouse which covers the

midriff completely, and is partially tucked in at the front.

Sometimes men tie it and make a knot in front, in other cases they wrap it around like a

skirt, and others put the end between the legs and tie it or tuck into the sarong which

called it as Nilame dress. (D)

Part of traditional costumes, Ves costume (E) wear Kandyan men dancers. The dancers

wear an elegant costume including a headdress incorporates a metallic front which makes

the dancer look taller. The dancer's chest is only covered by a decorative beaded net.

The national identity of Sri Lanka’s cultural depth is recognized by UNESCO, along with

six archaeological World Heritage destinations, the sacred city of Anuradhapura, the,

ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the golden temple of Dambulla, the ancient city of Sigiriya,

Person who is planning details to change the schedule in necessarily. There will be one

event Manager followed by one event Assistant.

This committee is dealing with creativity to design invitation. We appointed 1 member

followed by co-workers to design, print, & distribute a simple elegant invitation.

MEDIA/PR COMMITTEE

This committee promotes the event to the world & sponsors. For this duty we appointed

6 members to corporate with sponsors & Market the event worldwide.

DECORATION COMMITTEE

8 members functioning to determine The Cruise Show theme the spring to decorate the

BIMCH inside and outside locations. Communicating with logistic and invitation

committee to setting up decorations the ramp, seating, and place cards.

This committee is creating budget for the event. We appoint 8 members to accumulate

required to guarantee health of workshop conductors and audience. This responsibility

will take by 4 members of the committee followed by Co-workers.

down when it is finished.

work during the preparation for the production and also to technical rehearsals.

The extravagant Chanel Cruise show will be held on Friday the May 5th & 6th 2017 at

Bandaranaike Memorial International Convention Center (BMICH). & Cinnamon

The Chanel Cruise show will be held on Friday the May 5th 2017 at (BMICH) from

crew the whole show is financed by Sri Lankan Airlines. In that particular show they will be providing

The transportation method that we are going to use to bring our invitees and models to Sri Lanka

is our domestic airline “Sri Lankan Airlines”. Sri Lankan Airlines provide Charter flights for the

With more than 16,000 square feet (93,000 m²) of space, the BMICH is situated in the Cinnamon

floor zone covering 4500 sq. m. comprises of two show corridors, a lobby, dining room, lounge

Students from Academy of Deign (AOD) will provide us with volunteers, students to help with the

Fashion Show, also we would take the help from many more design schools as it would be a great

chance for students to work with an expert like Carl.

After every show we will be providing the guests a cocktail and some snacks, which will be arranged

by are food and beverage sponsor Cinnamon Hotels& Resort.

Also the siting orders will be done according to the guest priority.

When the invitees enter the premises of the event they would be handed with a booklet of all Carl’s

this event and attending this event. For that our Organizing committee should be creative, sincere

and provide a better services to the sponsors and guests. It’s our responsibility to deliver what we
