Introduction

The activities of West Africa Agricultural Productivity programme (WAAPP-Nigeria) was introduced into our Adopted Villages and Schools following the workshop organized for Executive Directors, Provosts and Coordinators of Adopted Villages from various Federal Research Institutes and Colleges of Agriculture under Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in August, 2012.

Manpower Development and Skill Acquisition.

About 300 participants attended the workshop organized for fishers in creating awareness and sensitization on Aquaculture. At the end of the workshop a group of twenty (20) fishermen including the Bulama of Sabo Daba Mile 3 village Baga as contained in the picture below registered and has completed a certificate course of our College Certificate Programme in Fisheries Technology this year.

Interest has been generated; the whole of Baga area is not known for Aquaculture but Artisanal fisheries, however today…….

Instructions on Agricultural Science Subject to Adopted Schools

Also the two secondary schools, Government Secondary School (GSS) Kukawa and Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS) Baga our Adopted Schools, has been reported to us in the College that the students had remarkable improvements in passing their Agricultural Sciences subject at credit levels following the instructions we put in place to the students on regular basis. They now prefer Agric Sc. to Home Economics. See photos below.

Conclusion

The Provost has trained one the Adopted Village desk officer, Adah Philip in feed formulation at NIFFR

This programme has just started and has the potentials to do very well in achieving the set objectives.
