THE WOMAN IN BLACK The Woman in Black is a 2012 British supernatural horror film directed by James Watkins and written by Jane Goldman , based on Susan Hill 's novel of the same name . It was produced by Hammer Film Productions . During his initial visit to Eel Marsh House, Arthur is distracted by odd noises, and subsequently, the appearance of a spectral entity in funerary garb. He hears sounds on the marshes of a carriage in distress and a screaming child, but sees nobody on the causeway. Upon his return to the village, Arthur attempts to alert the village constable. Though he remains adamant about what he saw, the constable assures him that no one has used the causeway in years before retreating to his study. Before he can react further, two children enter the station with their sister Victoria, who has just ingested lye . Despite his pleas for assistance, the girl collapses and dies in Arthur's arms. Though ruled as a suicide by the town physician, the locals blame the death on Arthur because he saw the alleged "Woman in Black". Certain parts of “the woman in black “are predictable, James Watkins has delivered a horror movie with whole new concept it excels with relatable characters. Music

atmosphere within the film. The non-diegetic music was used to create tension in the film, it helped the film to become powerful, original and be different. For instance in the opening sequence of the film there are no dialogues, but the music that plays throughout the start off high pitched but as the tension builds, the music starts to slow down and toward the end the church bell sounds are introduced with the echo of the notes hence the music is used to intrigue the audience and frighten them as it is haunting. Lighting Low key lighting is often used in horror films because of the effect it creates. The dim hue and the shadows created are suited to the conventions of the horror film, it created tension due to its mysterious and dark atmosphereControlling how much of the surroundings and characters are revealed, it sets the mood tone and created a dangerous association with enigma through the shadows and dull shades and dull shades.
