Why I choose APU?

One reason why I choose APU was because my wife recently graduate from APU with her Masters in Education. She influence my decision in going to APU. Also, she could help provide feedback and direction with my work since I am not a teacher and currently work in the medical field.

Why I choose APU?

Second reason why I choose APU was there willingness to work with me. I looked at different colleges to find out what would be my best option. Since already having a Bachelor degree in Business everyone wanted me to take a different path. APU realized my dream and provide a direction for me to achieve that dream.

Why I choose APU?

Last reason why I choose APU was there class flexibility. Since I work in a hospital and currently serving in U.S. Army National Guard my schedule can change in a moment notice. All of the APU instructors were very understanding and give me some flexibility in completing assignments. While taking these class there many times and still now that I was willing to give up on my dream, but APU’s great faculty saw some potential in me that I still haven’t found. (They must have great eye sight or psychic powers)

Highlights of the

Program

All of the Digital Technology class were great and I learned a lot from each one. The class I enjoyed the most would be EDUC 514 Digital Video in the Classroom.

EDUC 514

This class taught students on how to build visual effects, use music to enhance presentations, podcasting, and create movies in order to help keep the student’s attention while learning.

EDUC 514

Since this class I have made picture slideshows for my family with music and enhance special effects in them. I truly can’t wait to one day teach and turn boring lectures into great video presentation that are very informative while keeping the students interested in learning.

Portfolio

The topic I choose for my portfolio was Fractions. I hope to teach one day in the field of Math and fractions seem like a good place to start.

Portfolio

My goal is to help students understand how fractions apply to today’s world. After they have master multiplication fractions are the next biggest hurdle for them to learn.

Portfolio

I want them to understand how fractions are used from things like cooking, applying discounts at stores, sales tax, money, investments, splitting checks with friends over dinner. By having them understand how important fractions are they will hopefully realize why it is important to learn and master them.

Elements of my

Portfolio

One my elements of my portfolio is a video/song about equivalent fractions. It is a hip-hop video with very catchy graphics and beat to keep the students interested while learning about equivalent fractions.

Click equivalent fraction to hyperlink to video/song.

Another element in my portfolio is a website that students can go to and play fraction games. This allows them to practice what they have learned about fractions.

Click fraction games to view website.

Click on any game or one of the 4 tabs to see additional games covering different fraction lessons.
