My focus group mentioned a few similar points to each other; here I have summarised the point made by the group that I thought were most common and inferentially crucial: The interests of the group all said that going out and socialising was what they enjoyed doing, whilst also mentioning media related activities e.g. watching TV, films, or reading. Their opinions on the Rock/Pop genre were also all similar by describing it as on going, different and something that doesn’t get old. By creating a music magazine for this genre you are then appealing to a large group of people from all ages. When mentioning what bands or artists they mentioned music royalty and the most famous and renown music icons, like Madonna, Adele, David Bowie, P!nk, Michael Jackson. My focus group all mentioned at least one, if not all of the main, mainstream music magazines, which are: Q, Rolling Stone and Billboard. For the cover of my magazine I should include, as mentioned by my focus group, popular artists, celebrities, or anyone who is popular or in the news at the time For my content, it’s crucial that I include ‘new items, albums and fashion’ also reviews and upcoming events, which 2 of my group mentioned. When I showed my group a series of magazine covers, featuring the same artists to show the contrast and similarities between the two representations of the same person, they all mentioned that; the posture and stance of how the woman is standing or her body language shows off the glamour and feminine attitudes. Also the direction of her sight is key to address properly at the audience. In reference to layout, the text should appear around the image, to act as a border. The text should follow a colour scheme which matches with the background and masthead. The imagery colour should relate to the type of artist and there type of music By interviewing a series of people of different ages, all between 16-36, all 3 in a different decade, you can gather a series of information from people who see music in different ways, due to different childhood upbringings for the reason of the decade they were born in.

Page 1: Focus Group Summary

My focus group mentioned a few similar points to each other; here I have summarised the point made by the group that I thought were most common and inferentially crucial:

The interests of the group all said that going out and socialising was what they enjoyed doing, whilst also mentioning media related activities e.g. watching TV, films, or reading.

For the cover of my magazine I should include, as mentioned by my focus group, popular artists, celebrities, or anyone who is popular or in the news at the time

For my content, it’s crucial that I include ‘new items, albums and fashion’ also reviews and upcoming events, which 2 of my group mentioned.

The imagery colour should relate to the type of artist and there type of music

By interviewing a series of people of different ages, all between 16-36, all 3 in a different decade, you can gather a series of information from people who see music in different ways, due to different childhood upbringings for the reason of the decade they were born in.

The people were also of different genders. By interviewing 3 people, with a target audience of 60% female, then by interviewing 2 females and only 1 male, you then get the majority of the females opinon.
