Freshman Transition Program• Purpose: To help incoming freshman

students with the transition from middle school to high school by providing information on personal/social, career and academic topics throughout the year via classroom guidance lessons presented by the counseling staff. • Focus topics: bullying and study skills

• Session #1 (September): all freshman students participated in a guidance lesson on bullying (how to recognize and resolve it) and the importance of active listening

• Meet & Greet (October): all freshman students visited Ms. Johnson in the College & Career Center and met with his/her specific counselor in Student Services. Students kept notes on the visit using Cornell notes an AVID strategy.

• Session #2 (January): all freshman students will participate in a guidance lesson on conflict resolution, learning styles and developing positive peer relations
