FUTURE TENSE

The future tense, believe it or not, describes events in the future.

The future tense is formed in -ar, -er, and -ir verbs by adding the following endings to the infinitive form of the verb:

-é, -ás, -á, -emos, -án

Tomar – to take

Tomaré, tomarás, tomará, tomaremos, tomarán

Comer – to eat

Comeré, comerás, comerá, comemos, comerán

Escribir – to write

Escribiré, escribirás, escribirá, escribiremos, escribirán

4 groups of irregulars in the future:

Drop the –e/–i and add –d:

Poner – to put/place

Salir – to leave

Tener – to have

Valer – to have worth

Venir – to come

Example:

Tener – tendré, tendrás, tendrá, tendremos, tendrán

Caber – to fit

Haber – to have (auxiliary)

Poder – to be able

Querer – to want

Saber – to know (facts/information)

CONDITIONAL TENSE

The conditional tense is used to express what

would happen.

It is formed in -ar, -er, and -ir verbs by adding the

following endings to the infinitive form of the verb:

-ía, -ías, -ía, -íamos, -ían

Hablar – to speak

Hablaría, hablarías, hablaría, hablaríamos,

hablarían

added.

Decir – diría, dirías, diría, diríamos, dirían
