LOGO

The third-year students of the English major at UTEHY

(TAK12) consists of forty six students [ of those (studying

Perception and attitudes of students towards English

grammar.

Some exercises to seek the common mistakes and some

misunderstanding elements of English transitive verb

Research question 1: What are complementation types of

English transitive verbs? What are the main characteristics

of each of them?

→Mono-transitive complementation

→Di-transitive complementation

→Complex-transitive complementation

6. RESULTS OF THE STUDY

Page 12: Graduation Thesis: A study on the complementation of English transitive verbs

LOGO

Research question 2: What are the common mistakes made

by the third-year English majored students in using English

LOGO

Research question 2: What are the common mistakes made

by the third-year English majored students in using English

transitive verb complementation?

Mistakes in distinction in the structure of Complex-

transitive ( Table 6, Table 7, Table 8 )

Mistakes in word order in the structure “V-O-Adj” of

Complex-transitive ( Chart 5 )

6. RESULTS OF THE STUDY

Page 14: Graduation Thesis: A study on the complementation of English transitive verbs

LOGO

For teachers:

- Create some games relating to the lessons.

- Try to give students as many examples / exercises as

possible.

- Should draw out some common mistakes for students.

7. RECOMMENDATIONS

Page 15: Graduation Thesis: A study on the complementation of English transitive verbs

LOGO

For students:

- Should collect references/materials from different sources.

- Try to ask frankly to teachers for what is ambiguous.

- Classify all words according to all kinds of English

transitive verb complementation.

7. RECOMMENDATIONS

Page 16: Graduation Thesis: A study on the complementation of English transitive verbs

LOGO

The study obtains its objectives:

- Covering the theories related to the study

- Finding out the common mistakes made by the third year

students of the English major at FFL,UTEHY

- Suggesting some solutions

8. CONCLUSION

Page 17: Graduation Thesis: A study on the complementation of English transitive verbs

LOGO

Limited time, lack of sources, the researcher’s ability

A small number of students at Faculty of Foreign

Languages, UTEHY

9. LIMITATIONS

Page 18: Graduation Thesis: A study on the complementation of English transitive verbs

LOGO

It might be a good idea to do the same research with

experimental approach.

To do a further study to deal with other cases of English

verbs.
