  • Double dipping refers to taking a course in your major which also satisfies a Baccalaureate Core requirement.
  • These courses are noted on the major requirement side of the major sheet with an alphabetical abbreviation following the course title (ex:PSY 201 General Psychology (SPI)).
  • The alphabetical abbreviation matches the Baccalaureate categories on the reverse side of the major sheet .

13. EXSS Major requirements

  • Require students to maintain aminimum Option GPA of 2.25 and all EXSS prefixed courses GPA of 2.50.
  • Students must meet major/option GPA requirements to register and participate in EXSS Practicum and Internships.Must also meet major/option GPA to earn degree.

14. Professional ProgramAthletic Training Education Program (ATEP)

    • Athletic Training Applicants must:
    • Complete CH 121 and PHAR 210*
    • Complete EXSS 158 & 159 with C+ or better
    • Maintain 2.5 GPA minimum
    • Submit application and cover letter; complete oral, written and practical examinations with 70% or above on each
    • Complete CH 122 & 123 by fall term of acceptance into ATEP
    • Complete CPR & First Aid certification by fall term of acceptance into ATEP
    • * If unable to take, students will still be eligible for program

15. MATH/SCIENCEExercise & Sport Science

  • 17-23 = Math 111
  • 24-32 = Math 112, 245
  • Math 112 is required for all EXSS Majors
  • NOTE:Classes below the 100 level (Math 065 and 095) do not accrue graduation credits, and have an additional cost.

16. Importance of MATH Placement

  • Indicates which college level MTH class you are prepared to go into
  • MTH 111 = College Algebra
  • Of those scoring below 17, but took MTH 111,
  • 47% got a D, F, W, or U
  • Of those scoring 17 or higher, 22% got a D, F, W, or U
  • ~ 75% of those who failed MTH 111 scored less than 17 on the assessment.

17. Adjustments

  • IF you scored into MTH 065 or 095, place appropriate course in FALL term.
  • IF you scored into MTH 065/095 and have NEVER taken Chemistry, move CH 121 to WINTER , CH 122 to SPRING, and plan on taking CH 123 in SUMMER.
  • IF you scored into MTH 095, and HAVE TAKEN and passedCH in high school, you can do both MTH 095 & CH 121 in FALL.
  • IF you scored into MTH 095, but have taken and passed more than Algebra II in high school within the past year, consider taking MTH 103 to brush up on math skills before taking MTH 111 in winter.
  • IF you are considering PRE-MED, take CH 221-223 instead of the 121-123 series (but only if you have taken CH before)

20. Credit Overview Exercise & Sport Science

  • 12 credits constitutes a full-time student
  • 180 credits necessary to graduate, thus average is 15 credits per term for 4 years

  • We will go to the computer lab as a group to register! Please stay with presenter while working through student on-line registration process .
  • Make sure you know your GAP(if you or your parents previously accessed OSU on-line services, it was likely changed).
  • Use the Schedule of Classes on the OSU Catalog to build your schedule.
  • Begin planning schedule by checking for classes in your major, which tend to be single-section courses.Then, fill in with courses which have multiple sections.
  • As you complete your schedule, have it reviewed by an Advisor.
  • Turn in the WHITE copy of your schedule to an Advisor before you leave today
