This helps begin to develop language and memory, and starts to prepare child to different skills:Use your hands and fingers to act out the songs. Smile while you sing and change your facial expressions to fit the song or rhyme.

Tips for Success

Hold baby to help him feel loved and safe. Talk or sing to your baby while you develop different activities

like dressing, bathing, feeding or playing with him.

0-3 MONTHS

MILESTONES By end of 3 months

• Can briefly calm self. • Smiles.• Focuses on faces Turns toward sounds.• Follows things with eyes .• Acts bored (cries, fusses) if activity does not change.• Holds head up. • May begin push up when lying on tummy.

LET´S EAT!

Use names for those who are interacting with and feeding your baby.

During feeding time if baby is alert, make “music” while making eye contact with him/her.

LET´S SHARE WORDS AND STORIES!

Lace cardboard books or black and white pictures in front of baby. Describe pictures.

LET´S REST!

Play “Goodnight Moon” as part of bedtime routine carry baby around the room or the house and say “goodnight” with favorite toys, people, and objects.

LET´S SAY HELLO-GOODBYE!

Play “Now you see it”, Now you don´t. “Show your baby a toy. Cover the toy with a cloth, asking “ Where is it? “Remove the cloth with a “Here it is”.

3-6 MONTHS

While cuddling before feeding time, try the following finger play:“Round and round the garden, went the teddy bear.One step, two stepsTickle under there.

LET’S SHARE WORDS AND STORIES!

Read a simple story. Allow baby explore the book.

Place interesting photos and pictures around the house un areas where baby will notice them. Talk to baby about these pictures when he/she notices them.

LET´S SAY HELLO-GOODBYE

Show baby a ball then cover it under one of three plastic cups. Make sure baby sees which cup you hind the ball under. Next, encourage baby to grab or tap the cup with the hidden ball with a “ You found it”

Let´s Rest!

Pull out a flashlight, turn it on, and say “Look at the light!” Slowly move the light around the darkened room, focusing on various objects. Talk about the objects.
