INTRODUCTION In this project, student have to study the types of building development which include

suggestion , rationale , benefits , site analysis , evaluation and the needs of the project

to the client and community.

For our group, we are required to propose by individual and our site is located at

Samudra Timur , Kemaman , Terengganu. For me I am proposing a development in

the 30m x 30m site of 70m x120m.

Part 3: site analysis

The chosen site is located inside the residential area at the east-south of the Samudra

Timur. The chosen site is a lawn area. The first reason of the site was chosen because

it has strategic in location which I decide to proposal food courts.

Existing Structure

Around the site, it has a basketball court, playground and one electric generator. The

floor of the court has cracked and the playground accumulated waters.

Circulation

By the site plan, there are 4 ways can reach to our chosen site. So that people can

come to it by different directions.

Vegetation

There is a lot of natural landscape in the chosen site. It consist woody plants which

are trees and scrubs inside, makes closer to natural environment.

Utility

There is an electrical generator in at the side of site plan.

Page 7: ICI final project

7

Part 4:Observation

From the observation of site , there are somethings that we need to remove and

restrain. All of the parts of site analysis have their design issue.

EXISTING STRUCTURE

We found that the facilities inside the site are uninteresting, people go there

seldomly , also the playground will cause the mosquito breed inside the water and the

court has been cracked, so that people cant go and play basketball. Thus , it should be

destruct

CIRCULATION

We can come to this site by many ways. Thus, it has a great potential to make

acessible to enter the site.

VEGETATION

As there are many natural landscapes in the site , but the sbrubs should be improve or

remove because it will hide some dangerous animals like snakes . Sbrubs can be

improve to the flower turfs.

UTILITY

The electric generator makes people scare to near while they are playing basketball.

Also it makes the site become uninteresting. Thus, it should be remove and build in

hidden place of residential area.

Conclusion

Overall, it has a potential to build a gathering or relaxation place for the residents to

leisure and promoting the place to make it interesting.

CONCEPT (5W 1H)

The aim of our site is to change those uninteresting or abandoned facilities into

a friendly and good environmental place for people to gathering. The concept makes

our site become a relaxation place and it is suitable to build inside the residential area.

I would like to build a food court in my site. The design is focus on the closeness and

relationship between neighbourhood and friends in a natural environmental and

leisure place. I decided to build a food court for people to have a meaningful

relationship with each other while enjoying their meals.

This design is suitable to build inside the residential area. People can gather

every time with their friends or family because it just in the centre of residential area.

This design can makes the residential area becomes lively. It will be build when place

is going to be abandoned. Also it’s come from Retro style. My food stalls inside food

court are promoting International food such as Japanese food, Korean Food, Italian

food and many kinds of it.

Because of our food is promoting those Spicy and high cholesterol food. So

this design targeted for young people between ages 12-30. Old people are not

encouraged. The style of the food court will make people to feel satisfied after having

a meal because the styles are relating each of the meals.

Page 10: ICI final project

10

BENEFITS

It is good to create a food court inside the residential area because they can come to

eat in anytime. Also it makes the whole area become lively and friendly. People can

enjoy many kinds of food from many countries inside the food court. People also can

enjoy the natural environment because it closer to natural landscapes and the air feel

fresh can cools. It is also a place for people to increase and nurture their friendship

while enjoying meals.

IMPACT

It will cost very high on its materials and during construction stages, it will cause

sound pollution around this residential area. It might cause some smelly in some parts

of food court.

Justification

The reason why I choose Samudra Timur , Kemaman ,Terengganu is because it

has a large pieces of land and enable us to change the environment and build whatever

we want. We should utilize the place to become useful facilities for residents. Before

we utilize the site as a commercial area, we should analysis and solve the major

problems.

Trees should be planted around building because it can be decorations, as a

natural scene that makes closer to natural environment. Plants are needed in to create

greenery, recreational park, commercial area, resting area and so on

The food court is designed to relate the natural landscapes, like the outlook of

the food court, it builds by the Natural Grey Bricks, at the upper floor using natural

woods. The stepping stone makes the boundary of food court, as a main entrance. It

designs like a retro style to increase ambiance around the interior part.

The design is giving out a comfortable and relaxing feel to every people.

Recreational area

Project Description

Due to my member living in Terengganu, he found this site for this project. The site is

located in Samudra Kemaman, Terengganu, Malaysia. The site is potential to be

recreational area due to lots of houses surround it. Also, People has no places to relax

and people can walk to the recreational area easily. . The people that living near the

park are the main target for the park. The site is free of charge so everyone can come

also. It is very convenience for them. The aim of the park is creating a comfortable open

space for people to relax. After every process have been done, the construction will be

started.

Page 25: ICI final project

25

Benefits of creating recreational area

It is good to create a recreational area because it can let people get closer to the nature.

The park has lots of spaces for people and comfortable atmosphere. Due to the trees of

the park, the air near the park is very fresh. The park provides the open area for people

to do exercise or gather. People also can lie down on the lawn and breaths the fresh air,

further, the park also provide walk path for jogging. It is good for health. Create this

park will improve the environment of the place, produce fresh air, and create a natural

habitats for birds.

Impact of creating recreational area

During the construction stages, the sound pollution will affect the people that live near

the site. Also, the trucks will ruin the road and make the road dirty.

What is recreational area?

A recreation area is a type of protected area designated in some jurisdictions. In the

United States, National Recreation Areas are administered by several different agencies.

They typically do not meet the strict guidelines to become national parks.

Types of recreational area

The types of recreational area for this site is to create a park.

Concept of the site

The concept for the project is building a park there. The park will be surrounded by

trees and there will be a man-made lake at there. The two walk paths are created for

people jogging. The open area is for people to do exercise or gathering. Also, a gazebo

will be built at the park for people to rest and relax.

27

Wooden Modern Gazebo

This gazebo will

be built beside the

walk path at the lawn.

It provide a place to let

people to rest after

jogging. People can

also read books and

gathering.

Material

The material that is used for the gazebo is Walnut Wood. Walnut is strong, hard

and durable, without being excessively heavy. It has excellent woodworking qualities,

and takes finishes well. The wood is light to dark chocolate brown in colour with a

straight grain in the trunk. Wavy grain is present toward the roots, and walnut stumps

are often dug out and used as a source of highly figured veneer. Large burls are common.

Walnut solids and veneers show a wide range of figures, including strips, burls, mottles,

crotches, curls and butts. European walnut is lighter in colour and slightly finer in

texture than American black walnut, but otherwise comparable. The reason why this

material is chosen due to the benefits of it which are Aesthetics, easy to maintain,

variety and durability.

28

Open Area

The open area is designed for people to do exercise and gathering. The design

is very modern and stylish.

Material

The material that is used for the floor of the open area is cement. Cement is

divided into two types which are hydraulic cement and non - hydraulic cement.

Hydraulic cement is chosen because refers to any cement that uses water to begin a

chemical reaction that hardens the mixture and, when fully formed, creates a water

resistant product. It is a very versatile construction material. Most all cements used

today are hydraulic cements. The reason why cements is chosen due to easy to maintain,

environmentally friendly, versatile and long lasting.

29

Walk paths

The walk paths are for people to go

jogging and walking. While jogging, people

can also enjoy the nature.

Material

The walk paths of the site are made by

bricks. Brick made from clay and shale

which are some of the most abundant,

natural materials on earth and then fired

through a kiln at up to 2000 degrees. The

reason the brick turns into such a durable

material is that the clay/shale unit actually

goes through a vitrification process in the

kiln, which enables the clay particles to fuse

together. Bricks is Strong and Durable, low

maintenance, energy-efficient and fire

resistance.
