FOUNDATION IN NATURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT ( FNBE )
Final Project : The Project Brief

PROJECT INTRODUCTION For this project, we are required to form a group. Each group have only 2
people. We need to find a specific empty land to initiate a small construction
project. The size of the land shall between 50m X 50m ( 2500m2 ) to 50m X
70m ( 3500m2 ).
Individually, we need to proposed a project that serves on any ONE or
COMBINATION OF TWO of the following purposes. This project must do in
A4 sized bounded report and minimum page is 20 pages only.
The following purposes are :
1. Recreation area
2. Commercial area
3. Industrial area
4. Agricultural area
5. Tourism area
6. Residential area
This project is enable for us to develop an understanding of the building team,
its organization, duties and inter-relations within which they will seek
employment, career progression or further study. In addition, its practice us to
develop an awareness of their professional responsibilities and to appreciate
their profession in th econstruction industry.
And it allows us to understand the important of the authority procsses and
procedures in order to get the project done from inception to the completion.
OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to provide the business area for the residents in
that area. That area will be choosen to proposal is the commercial area. A
commercial area is real estate intended for use by for-profit businesses, such as
market, food court and so on. On the other hand, a commercial area is also an
activity of leisure time for the people to eat, to enjoy, to buy the things of daily
life and having fun. However, commercial is an essential part of human life to
increase the knowledgeable of working experience and reducing stress.
Project Benefit This project is giving an opportunity for us to create something useful area that
provide benefits to all the people. It is also given a biggest reward for us to
achieve, spreading hapiness, enjoyable, having fun and reducing stress in one’s
life. A commercial activities are provide an opportunity for people to get the
working experinces, getting some moral values in the communities and
practicing to increase yourself. At the same time, it provides the benefit for the
people to reduce stress and decrease psychiological tensions. Besides that,
leisure activities is compulsory for all the people to relax and enjoy in their life.
Thus, this commercial building is built in the residential area. This is because it
can saving time, easy, accessibilities and is an open space to all the people to
come.

CIRCULATION PATTERN There have 4 ways of circulation pattern which is 2 ways of entrance and 2 ways of exit in
the same place position.
SUN PATH AND WIND DIRECTION
ACCESSIBILITY The site is nearby the main road and the education area which is Taylor’s University. It is
very convenient to all the people to come.
TRANSPORTATION There have only 2 transportations in that area which is:
Cars Motorcycles
FACILITIES There have 3 facilities in that area which is:
Security guard Playground
Covered parking
WEATHER As we go to the site, it is too hot in the day and cool in the night. Sometimes,
the wind blow in that area is hot during the day only. But at night, the
temperature of that area is low and the wind blow is cool.
AMBIENCE There have a soft traffic noise can be heard in all day since it is near to the main
road. At the same time, there will be traffic jams in weekdays since it is near to
the Taylor’s University. On the other hand, the surrounding of the area is clear
and safe
PORTRAINT AND CONSTRAINTS The area is full of housing area. There are not restaurant, convenience store and
sport area nearby. That is why we choose commercial area as our concept which
can make it comfortable and convenient to the people in the area. Moreover,
they can just use bicycle or walking to the place.
Besides that, the area is near to the main road and education area which is
Taylor’s University. Therefore, it might cause the traffic jams and produce the
noisy sound from the vehicles. At the same time, it also cause the air pollution
since the vehicles released the poisounous smoke.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SITE Our site is a part of land from an unsued and undevelopment piece of meadow. It is located at
Jalan PJS 7/4 in Bandar Sunway, Malaysia. The location is look like a squre shaped and grid
pattern layout. Our site is surrounded by residential areas. The size of our site is 2500 m2
which is 50m x 50m.
PROJECT CONCEPT The proposal project that we are going to build on the site is the commercial area. This is
because the surrounding of the site is mostly residential areas only. The site is located at Jalan
PJS 7/4 in Bandar Sunway, which is a major of housing area and is near to the education area
which is Taylor’s University. We are not demolish the purpose of the area. As we go to
observe the site of that area, we find out those residents in Bandar Sunway needs an open
space area to eat, to relax, to enjoy, to communicate with others people and having fun.
My proposal of the site is the Delicious Food Court, which are provides some various food
stall for people to choose what they wanted to eat. It has provide a healthy foods and drinks,
cheap price and very convenient for the residents or others people to come such as workers
and students.
OBJECTIVE As the time passed, almost the empty land in Malaysia are used to build a tall buildings and
something else including the recreation areas, government buildings, commercial areas,
industrial areas, residential areas and tourism areas. The area of the site in Bandar Sunway is
surrounded by majority of residential areas. There have many restaurants for residents but the
distance between from the residential areas to the restaurant is too far and almost the foods
are expensive to the customers. The site is also near to the education area which is Taylor’s
University causes it will be traffic jams during 6pm. The objective of this project is to
provide a specific place which is the food court for people, residents and students to come
and eat. So, they no need to rush with the time and get away from their busy schedule. It is
very convenient to them.

PROPOSAL FOR OUR SITE As we go to observe the site, I think it is suitable to build a commercial building which is the
food court. This is because the site is surrounded by the residential only. As we build the food
court on that site, it is very convenient to the residential areas. At the same time, it is good for
people to communicate, relaxation, having fun. The restaurant are provide a variety of foods
include breakfast, lunch and dinner. And the food court is open in 24 hours.

1) CAR PARK
It is convenient to the residents that who live slightly far away in that area or other places so
that they don’t have to walk to the food court.
2) STALLS
There have 3 types of stall which is foods, drinks and fruits. For the food stall, it can be many
different types of food such as Malaysia foods, Japanese foods, Taiwan foods, Italian foods
and so on. This is the best choice for the consumers to choose what kinds of food their want
to eat.
3) WASHROOM
The washroom has provide 2 toilets which is the female toilet and male toilet. It is convenient
for the people to clean up themselves after eating or some accidently cases such as urgency
and stomach pain.
4) LIGHTING
The lighting was designed with the Japanese lantern. The Japanese lantern is made up with
the Japanese washi paper and custom hanging lantern at the luminous ceiling. It provide
romantic and comfortable feeling for the people to eat and chatting with others people.
5) CEILING FANS
This is the Oasis Palm Leaf ceiling fan. With four palm leaf shaped blades and a 3-speed wall
control with light switch. It is a high speed fan to move. The purpose to put the ceiling fans is
for the people to feel no hot and comfortable.
6) OLD STONE ROAD
It is enable for the people to drive in slow motion and safety.
7) TABLES AND CHAIRS
It must be provided for people to seat and eat in comfortable situation.
SOFTSCAPE
1) TREES
It will be planted at the corner of parking place to provide shades.
WHAT IS THE BENEFITS OF PLANTING TREES There are many benefits of planting trees in our site. Trees can increased a property value and
bring people together in an eco-friendly activity. Planting trees can improve the quality of
human life and new identity for the residential. The following of planting trees’ benefit are:
1) Trees clean the air
Trees provide oxygen, absorb pollutant gases which is nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulphur
dioxide and ozone. And filter particles out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and
bark. In one year, an acre of mature trees can provide oxygen for 18 people. Furthermore, it
also can reduce the quality of air pollution.
2) Trees combat the greenhouse effect
Global warming is the result of excess greenhouse gases, created by burning fossil fuels and
destroying tropical rainforests. Carbon dioxide is a major greenhouse gas contributing to
global warming. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, it removing and storing the carbon while
releasing the oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the
amount of carbon dioxide produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles.
SWOT ANALYSIS
STRENGTH
~ The site is located nearby the main road and Taylor’s University. It has a high accessibility
to connect the road from Taylor’s University and the residential areas to the site.
~ The site is surrounded by the residential areas. It is very convenient for the residents to
walk to the site without using any transportations.
WEAKNESS
~ The site is located nearby the main road. The vehicles including cars, motorcycles, taxi and
lorry that which will produces the noisy sound. Some of the vehicles released bad and
poisonous smoke to the environment causes the quality of air pollution is increased and the
health of human’s life will be effected.
OPPORTUNITY
~ The empty land of the site is an unused and undeveloped land. It is a great place to be
expanded and developed into a specific place that can served a purposed for the residential
areas.
THREATS
~ The site is covered by grass and woody plants. This conditions might easily attract the
animals to stay there such as lizards and dogs. Thus, the grass and some of the woody plants
must be completely cleared off before starting the construction project.
CONCLUSION At the end of this project, I have concluded that the developing of an empty land into a
specific place is not easy and simple to do. Before starting the construction, it is important to
do the site analysis before planning a new proposal project to reduce the construction
problems. At the same time, it must be listed out the problems and issues to the site and find
out an effective ways to solve it. For example, the location, conditions, accessibility and
sustainability to the site in that area. Furthermore, it is also important to coordinate and
develop an understanding of coherent working relations among various industry players. We
need to know that how to communicate and present effectively with the clients or others
people about what we wanted to build. I did a lot of research to find a great ideas and
inspiration to do a process which can improve the proposal to serve the purpose of its
development.
