This book is the first of many in a series leveraging hip hop lyrics as a form of personal and professional development.

The first ebook is focused on 41 lyrics from Jay-Z’s library of albums. Each lyric has an original affirmation for you to recite out loud(use it or feel free to create your own.)

I have always been a lover of quotes and a lover of hip hop. It was only natural for me to combine the two and bring you content that can have a positive impact on your life. There are a couple of fundamental questions




that you will probably ask so let me answer them now so you can fully enjoy your journey.

1. Why Jay-Z?: It’s quite simple (in my mind at least); besides the accolades and us both being from Brooklyn there is something more organic that happened and I just decided to pay attention and act on what was going on. In my first book, “Move the Crowd: 30 Days of Hip Hop Affirmations to Change Your Life,” 11 out of 30 (37%) lyrics used were from Jay-Z. I did not plan it that way, but that is the way it played out. I did not notice at first, but then people who knew nothing about hip hop would grab my book, flip




through it and say, “You really like this Jay-Z guy.” It’s at that point that I realized that his words has had a great impact on me and many of the people I collaborated with to create my first book. Two years later after listening to all of his albums and pulling out the lyrics that moved me, I decided to create this ebook-- despite the cry of some who felt having the book focus on one artist would not fly. To those who are/were opposed, I thank you for the fuel and the reminder, “The motivation for me, is them telling me what I could not be, (so ambitious)” and that I must trust the little voice that says, “move forward.” I have delayed




long enough and have come to the simple answers to the question, “Why did you write this book?”

1. I could not, not write this book. 2. I refuse to die with my music inside me. 3. I hope it inspires and enables others to trust themselves and share their gifts with the world.

The words in this book will impact you in some way. Love or hate the man (Jay-Z), you will see that the words in this book will inspire you, it will invoke confidence in you, it will force you to answer the question, “What the hell are you waiting for? (encore).
