Actors are generally self-employed, meaning their hours are very irregular. When working on a film they can have varied hours depending on how much they get done in the day.

There is no set income for actors. Only the most well established actors earn a high income. Most actors are paid a fee for each contract or performance. For example, as a performer in theatre they may earn around £420 a week.

Most actors have training in either a Drama University or college. Training is required to do a contract, but your overall ability to act, which is generally shown via an audition, has the most impact on weather or not you get the role.

Photography As a photographer you would use cameras to take still photographs. You would use your technical skills and artistic ideas to take images of people and products. You will also take pictures of places or events.

Photographers are mostly freelancers, being hired by families or companies to fulfill their requests. Hours of work can vary and may often include evenings and weekends.

Freelance photographers are normally paid a fee for each job, or an hourly or daily rate. Rates can vary widely depending on experience and reputation, the type of assignment and the budget available.

Photographers can vary in required experiences and training. Ranging from GCSE’s to A levels and then Degree level courses. These offer qualifications and the experience of taking photos of numerous themes.
