2. Best Practice The teacher explicitly teaches vocabulary specific to their subject or topic. The teacher will clearly display and verbalise in each class the lesson focus. The Hook Grab student attention. E.g. use visuals, props or something related to studentsinterests. Prior Knowledge (Getting Knowledge Ready Munro) When beginning a unit, or a lesson(where applicable) tie into what the students already know. Use questioning techniques todraw out class, group or individual knowledge. Review -At the end of the lesson the teacher should refer back to the learning focus andhave students reflect on what they have learnt. 3.
