Background•Technology is more prevalent in classroom.

•Students are more adapt than teachers.

•Sites/tools are geared for teaching.

•Take adaption slowly and be intentional.

•SAMR model for technology integration.

First level: Substitution•Replacing with technology current lessons.

•Same task is done as before.

•Typically these lessons are teacher centered.

The pencil is a substitution for the pen.

Second level: Augmentation •Like substitution but cannot be done without computers.

•Provides more depth and help.

•May do things teacher cannot do.

Virtual reality augments reality.

Third Level: Modification•First level where teaching is transformed.

•Tasks cannot be accomplished without technology.

•Cooperative learning is key.

The cell phone modified where we talked on the phone.

Fourth level: Redefinition•The highest level of technology integration.

•Previously inconceivable tasks are done.

•Students centered tasks.

The Atari redefined how we played games.

Keys to Success•Reminder: Take it slow!

•Don’t reinvent the wheel.

•Seek help from others.
