History

Historically, Lincoln Square

has been a German town and

is where the Chicago

branches of German

American National Congress

are located. Lincoln Square

plaza was built to evoke “Old

World flavor” with European-

styled shops.

Observation: German influenced

● We saw several German

businesses including Lutz Bakery

and the Chicago Brauhaus

● We heard several people speaking

German

● We noticed many of the decorations

(lamp posts, fountains, etc..) were

German style
