Opening an Document

• You may open an existing Document trough the Open Dialog Box. This dialog box helps you locate the document that you wany to open.

Do one of the following to open a document:

• On the File Menu, click Open• Click the Open button on

the Standard Toolbar• Press CTRL+O

• You may check if the document to be opened is in another file or folder by doing one or more of the following:

• Click the Look in Box and select the new location.

• Click Shortcut Bar Icons.• Click the drive and directory names

in the File List Pane before you click Open. You may also double click the drive and directory name in the file list pane.

• Click the UP One Level Button.

Locating an Document

• If you are not sure where a document is stored, you can do a search to locate it.

Searching for a Document File Containing a specified Text:

• If, for example, you forgot the name of a file, you may search for the same by recalling texts in it.

Follow these steps:

• 1. Click Search on the Standard Toolbar or select File Menu. Click Search.

• 2.In the Search Task Pane, type the text to search for in document files.

• 3. To limit the area, choose a drive or folder in the Search In Box. To search everywhere, select everywhere.

• 4. To limit the type of search results, in the Results Should Be Box, select Office Files-Word Files. Click Search.

Search for a document file based on more or more Properties:

• If, for example you forgot the name of a file, you may search for the same byu recalling its properties.

• 2.In the Basic Search Task Pane, click Advanced Search.

• 3. Enter one or more search criteria.
