Oaks Park High School

• The school location was the basis of our filming. This is where we interviewed both Mary Trapp and Craig Foster as this is the school they taught in

Mary Trapp

• We filmed Mary Trapp in her personal office. To the right of the shot you can see a stack of folders which help to show professionalism as she is both a SEN-CO teacher and knowledgeable in the Autism field.

Craig Foster

• Similary, with Craig we placed him in a room used for P.S.H.E. (Personal Social Health Education) lessons where autism is mentioned in some classes. The use of the filing cabinets and organizers behind him show, again, his professionalism.

Oaks Park High School (Cutaways)

• As a lot of the documentary was focusing on autism in schools, we knew a lot of our cutaways had to be filmed here. As Oaks Park was the home to two of our interviewees and ourselves, we had readily available access to film around the school when we needed to. These shots reflected the work ethic of the school.

Amber Rudd’s Office

• When we went to visit Amber Rudd, we met her in an office/meeting space. There was a map in the background which I think connoted, especially in terms of our documentary, how her views as an MP were a reflection of the people she is representing.

Sullivan’s Caravan

• Maggie earns a lot of her money through renting out a Caravan at the bottom of her garden as a holiday home (The Sanctuary Retreat). We decided to film both Maggie and Aaron’s interviews in here as it was much quieter than in the house and the backgrounds were not as distracting.

Sullivan’s Home (Cutaways)

• We then decided to film a lot of cutaways around the place Aaron calls home so that the viewer gets to know him more. We filmed things such as him listening to his radio broadcast and his pets as these are a bit part of his life.

War and Peace Show (Cutaways)

• Aaron invited us to go to the War and Peace show with him as it was a show all about the history of wars, which is the topic of Aaron’s fascination. We filmed Aaron around the outdoors exhibition to give the audience more of an insight in to Aaron’s life and autism.
