Music Magazine – Genre research

• The genre of this magazine is RAP music because it says “I am RAP” so its genre is about music. Genre is a category of art, music, or literature. It also denotes or relates to a certain style of writing and topic. Vibe is a music and entertainment magazine found by producer Quincy Jones. It features R&B and hip-hop music artists, actors and other entertainers. The songs are mainly expressing their emotions and life stories, the lyrics mean everything to the artist and the listeners can usually relate to the song. I want my magazine to appeal to a wide variety of people so everyone can enjoy it not just one group of people so I am thinking of involving rap, hip-hop and acoustic music to appeal to a wide variety of people.

USP

What is the USP of this magazine? YOU MUST refer to specific conventions/stories from you research

The Unique Selling Point of Vibe magazine is the main picture because it stands out and catches peoples eyes. The strap line is in bold so it also stands out to the audience. I also think the side stories mainly the “ win Ed Sheeran tickets is also a USP because it grabs people’s attention as Ed Sheeran is a well-known and popular artist so that USP will attract customers to buy my product.

• USP-A unique selling proposition (USP, also seen as unique selling point) is a factor that differentiates a product from its competitors, such as the lowest cost, the highest quality or the first-ever product of its kind. A USP could be thought of as what you have that competitors don’t.

• A successful USP promises a clearly articulated benefit to consumers, offers them something that competitive products can’t or don’t offer, and is compelling enough to attract new customers
