Band Advertisements/ Promotions

I found it hard to find magazine adverts which promoted album releases. However I did manage to find band posters promoting tours. All of these contain the band name, tour dates/ release days, both the Mumford and sons and the chase posters have band website addresses. All three of the posters stick to some form of colour scheme in which the font stands out from the background image/ colour. I like the “The Chase” poster for its simplicity and I prefer this one and “The Flaming Lips” promotions because they seem more artistic rather than promoting a picture of the band itself (Mumford and Son). I like the clear layout of the Mumford and Sons poster making the information easy to see and easy to remember.

I personally prefer magazine adverts which have text which sticks out from the back ground (such as the flaming lips) I also believe that a minimalistic magazine advert can be more eye catching than a “cluttered” one. The “Au Revoir Simone” CD cover was an inspiration for my initial magazine advert however I believe it, in the end, became cluttered. So I chose my other option of having a simple image with eye catching writing inspired by the “The Flaming Lips” and “The Chase” Adverts.
