ColoursThe background of the image and masthead are both white. This can have connotations of purity and a luxury. This will make the magazine have a somewhat premium sense about it. Also the colours don't take focus away from the main artist on the cover meaning that the artist stands out more.

DesignThe masthead has a bold serif type face giving it an up to date fresh look towards it meaning that this would appeal towards the younger generation. The colours in the masthead are also used in the artist’s shirt. This creates a consistent design throughout.

ImagesTaylor swift is on the front cover of the image and she is wearing a colourful shirt and has bits of shiny plastic on it. This suggests that the target audience would be aimed at the younger generation. This is as because it is a bold design choice which would be appealing towards the younger audience. She is the main image on the cover suggesting that she is the most important story in the magazine.

PoseThe pose that Taylor swift uses is her arms overhead and the image is a medium close up. This brings importance towards her face and her hair. Her hair is somewhat rough and messy creating the impression that the magazine has a somewhat relaxed feel to it. However she has makeup on which gives it a more professional look towards it, this creates a contrasted view as the hair does not have a professional look to it at all. Coverlines On the cover there is a puff on the bottom of the page this could make it hard to see at a difference or if it was on a magazine shelf however it is printed in yellow making it stand out on the white background. The puff reads “Music film style magazine” Making the readers intrigued as this is a somewhat different style for what people stereotypically think about music magazines. There is a buzz sentence on the cover reading “Making world domination looking easy since 1989” This is a powerful metaphor used as Taylor swift hasn’t actually taken over the world, however when people read this they will be interested in reading into it and see what it’s all about pulling in more readers and selling copies of the magazine. Overall impression The cover does give a good indication to what is inside as it has Taylor swift on the cover which is a famous artist and captures the younger audience. However it would not attract the older generation as it may be seen as an abstract concept all the colours and the poses don’t work. But this will work for the younger generation.

ColourThe contents page mainly follows the design of the masthead that was also used on the cover. White is also used as a background this makes the text clear and easy to read and creates a tone of seriousness towards the magazine. The page numbers are also in red. This has connotations of warning, danger and for it to be noticed. This would have been used in the text to bring out the importance of the page numbers. So people will notice it easier and therefor not have trouble finding what they are looking for and be more interested in the magazine. The masthead also has accents of red in this. This means it has a consistent design theme throughout the magazine.

Photo On the contents page there is different artists to the one on the front. This image is of someone singing into the mic. However he has a somewhat rough view about him as he has sweaty hair, this continues to make the magazine seem that it has a somewhat laid back look whilst continuing to appeal to the target audience as the artist is singing into a microphone.

On the contents page all the stories on each page are bold making them eye catching. They are also in the centre of the page making them the first thing that you look at. The lower three sections are more colourful these are the brands in the magazine. This will make the reader feel the importance of the pages and be intrigued into reading about it. They are also big enough so with just a glance you are able to see what the magazine has in it. LanguageOn the contents page on the left third it has a bold paragraph that states “hello” this is direct address towards the reader making them feel as if it’s more personal and makes them feel welcomed into reading it.

The contents page does do well as it clearly states what’s inside each page and keeps interest towards the target market set.

ColourOn the double page spread the colours used on both the cover and the contents page were used. There is a white background with black text on it. However some text is red which was also used in the masthead keeping a consistent professional look for the magazine. However red is bold and has connotations of warning, danger and for it to be noticed. This would have been used in the text to bring out a particular name to bring importance to it meaning that the audience will read it.

DesignThe text in the Image overlap the artist, what is interesting about the colours used was that it matches the outfit that she is wearing. Making it stand out as it’s a wide range of colours.

Images On the double page spread it has two images of the main artist from the cover story. This would be continued to be marketed towards the younger generation as it has the continued bold fashion statement with a mix of colours. On the double page spread there are two different poses used by the same artist. The image on the left has her hands on her hips suggestion a certain seriousness to the magazine however her outfit is colourful with sparkly objects on it giving it a contrast in ideas. This will make the reader pay attention to the image as they will understand the certain seriousness of the image. The image on the right has the artist in this image having a relaxed look towards her as she is in a dancing position. With her hands above her head and with one leg raised. This will make the reader pay closer attention to the outfit that she is wearing. Language

The title used in the double page spread is “queen of everything” this cover line is huge as it spreads across both pages meaning that it is easy to see. It is also a metaphor and will make the reader feel the importance of the page as the title is distinctively called out.

ColoursOn the front cover the masthead used is in a blue sans serif type face giving it an up to date fresh look towards it making readers think that it is a relatively new magazine style.

ImageThe image on the front cover is of Loco dice, he has an uncommon, rough textured hairstyle. This will appeal to the younger generation as it captures the attention of the audience and images them to pay attention. The pose that the artist is interesting as he covers his nose with his hands in a pyramid style. Whilst he is doing this it means that one of the sides of his face is lit up and one isn’t. Creating contrast, this can make the reader feel as if he has a dark side now that he has “return” The clothes that he is wearing are white this creates a somewhat pure glow about him and he is the centre of attention.

A coverline saying “The world’s biggest dance and music & club magazine” This suggests to the reader that there is information about a specific genre that is dance music. The coverlines have some distinctive features about them meaning people at a glance will be able to tell what is in the magazine. They are in a bold sans serif font this means that they are eye catching and will be easily read from a distance.

The magazine does give good clear indication for what is inside the magazine. This is shown by the bold, niche market target audience. However this magazine wouldn’t be suitable for the older generation as the colours and design features do not fit what they would expect from a magazine. For this reason it is not a mass market product.

ColourThe background used is a black plain background. However the writing is white this means that the font stands out more clearly and has an eye catching look towards it. Also the white has connotations of purity and premium. This can make the magazine have a somewhat premium feel towards it. On the image there is a photo with fireworks on it. This creates a bright image that makes the contents page very eye catching.

DesignOn the images on the contents page there are page numbers relating to that story this means that people will quickly be able to jump to the pages they want just by looking at the contents page images rather then the text. This suggests that these are the main stories in the magazine and this will interest the reader and then sell copies.

Images On of the Images is of a young girl at a club, this means that this could appeal to the target audience as it creates a relatable circumstance therefor intriguing the reader to read into the story. Another image on the page is of a festival with a wide range of colours from the fireworks. This would directly link to the young target audience as it will capture there imagination and curiosity to read on.

In the photo of the young girl she has a lean suggesting that she is having a good time at the party, since she is holding her drink high it suggest that she likes it and is somewhat showing it off, making the reader think that the club she is at is a good one and will read that part of the magazine. The title of the contents

page has a somewhat futuristic look towards it. This fits the design choices of the magazine as it is aimed at the younger generation who are into clubbing and dancing. Since it has that look it suggest that it is somewhat futuristic which links to the picture with bright flashing lights. This can mean that people who see this title will assume that it has relevant information towards to the younger generation. The contents are in a bold san serif type font meaning it keeps the futuristic design style. However it is white on black meaning that it is bold and is eye catching the font is quite a small size meaning it can be difficult to read from a distance. On the contents page it uses rhetorical questions. This is an interesting language

technique used. This is because it will intrigue the target audience to think about it meaning that it will grab their attention and make it more memorable. Also the questions are directly targeted towards the audience

Overall the contents page does do a good job and gives a clear indication to what is inside the magazine it does this through a wide range of photos that appeal to the younger audience, however it wouldn’t work towards the larger mass market as older people won’t be as interested in “the planets best club listings” as this is a niche market magazine.

ColoursThe background used is a plain white wall. The main model in photo has a white and black dress style. This has contrast as black has connotations of evil and death whereas white has connotations of purity and goodness.

DesignThe fonts overlap the model in the photo with his name “Loco Dice” this works however as it fits the design colours used consistently throughout the picture. This font has been used on the cover also. Since his name has been put across himself it can suggest that people don’t know who he is as it has been 7 years since his last debut. Meaning that he has been boldly named in a sans serif font it can suggest that this is big news.

ImagesIn this double page spread there isn’t that much writing. This means that the reader will focus more closely on the photo. This photo is related to the main story that is on the cover of the magazine. These pages are showing him off in 2 separate full body shots with him pulling different poses.

On the left image he is looking away from the camera meaning that the target audience could be intrigued to see what he is looking at. He is also providing a slight lean and has his foot lifted suggesting that he is preparing to become active again after not debuting for seven years.  On the right image he has fully stretched out his leg giving the impression to the reader that he is now starting up again and that he is now ready. His gaze is staring right at the text intriguing them to read what Loco Dice is looking at.

LanguageIn the text it uses a rhetorical question. Addressing the reader directly this can grab the reader’s attention and make them question their own views as the question can seem somewhat biased as it makes the readers consider a different point of view.

Since the image is directly related towards the main story on the cover photo it will interest the readers of the younger target audience and not the older generation.
