MAGAZINE PITCH WORKING TITLE The working title I have chosen for my magazine is 'Nevermind'. The reason behind this is the word gives off a laid back and relaxed vibe, which is how I want people to perceive the magazine. The fact that it is a chilled out title means that it is not pretentious at all, which I think would attract my younger target audience as young adults generally have a more laid back attitude. Even though the title may be suggestive of a relaxed attitude, is will still emanate a passion for music. As well as this, the name of a local bar/music venue (also called nevermind) - here, there is live music which promotes the same genre as the magazine. The style and atmosphere of the place is very similar to what Nevermind is based on. Nevermind is also the name of an extremely popular album by Nirvana. This is the type of music that would be featured in the magazine, therefore it influenced my decision, as people may associate the venue and the album with the magazine, therefore allowing them to make the link between this style and Nevermind; this will attract people who have these paticular interests.

MAGAZINE PITCHWORKING TITLE

The working title I have chosen for my magazine is 'Nevermind'. MAGAZINE PITCHGENRE

The main genre for my magazine will be indie/rock/alternative - using a wide range of music will allow the magazine to gain a larger audience and there will be more chance of it having something that more people are interested in. This may not be conventional for a music magazine as they usually focus on one area of music, however, I have taken my inspiration from NME, which also covers a wide range of music. This type of music is also not classed as the most favourable among society as the typical music is pop which most people listen to, therefore, I want to do something different and individual. I think by including alternative music on a wide spectrum would be something which would make the magazine unique and unlike any others that currently exist. Another reason for this choice is that the results from the audience research showed that the most popular genre was indie/rock; this influenced the decision as I want to create something which will be popular among my target audience.

MAGAZINE PITCHCOVER PRICE

The price of the magazine will be £2.50 - this price is reasonable and realistic for people in my target audience (15-25) as young adults do not generally have a fixed income and would not be able to afford a higher price. However, the type of people the magazine is aimed at will have a large disposable income, meaning that they don’t generally have many responsibilities, so they can spend their money leisurely. The audience research, again, influenced this decision as most people chose the 0-£3 bracket for how much they would be willing to pay for a magazine. I chose to go to the higher end of the bracket as the publication must still be profitable and paying this will make the reader feel as though they're getting good value for money and a good quality magaizne . The price is still attainable and allows readers to buy each issue so keeping the price not too expensive is good as this could deter people from purchasing.

MAGAZINE PITCHFREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION

Nevermind will be published monthly as this allows better variety in the magazine because there is more time to build up content and interesting stories. The genre of the magazine may be considered as less popular, so the information about this area may not be as easily accessible as other artists such as big popular names like One Direction or Ed sheeran.Choosing a monthly schedule ensures that the magazine will always be informative, have new things to talk about and always have the latest articles about the alternative music industry. The music industry is something which is ever-changing so a new magazine each month, not necessarily over weeks, so this means that Nevermind would be able to be up to date on everything happening. Publishing on a monthly basis also allows people to be able to buy every edition, as a weekly cost may become expensive.

MAGAZINE PITCHREADER PROFILE

The typical Nevermind reader would be a highly sociable person who has a fairly large group of friends who all share similar interests in music because this is how they stay close; going to festivals and gigs is something which they would enjoy immensely for the atmosphere and fun. They will generally get along with anyone who has the same interest in music as it so important to them. Their love for music doesn't end at just listening to it through Spotify and other music apps, band merchandise plays a big part in their fashion; they will always look the part and display their love for music through this also. As well as being fashionable, Nevermind readers will always have a chilled out attitude to match the tone of the magazine; this is one of the main reasons it appeals to them. The typical reader will be between the ages of 15 and 25 which means they have a young and fresh outlook on life meaning that they are enthusiastic and will express themselves freely. Overall, a Nevermind reader will be fashion concious, passionate about music, and most other things in their life, as well as being independent and unique; they won't always follow the crowd or do what others deem as 'mainstream', allowing them to think for themselves which is one of the main reasons for liking the alternative style of music.
