Matching on Action Matching on action refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action. This technique is used to allow different camera angles to show mood and could be used to show power. For Example from The Ring: This shot is a POV shot of Katie’s point of view of the living room. For this cut to the screenshot below to be a smooth transition and to match the shot before, her body needs to be in exactly the same place as where the shot is looking from for it to look realistic.

Matching on Action

Matching on action refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from

one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action. This technique is used to allow

different camera angles to show mood and could be used to show power.

For Example from The Ring:

This shot is a POV shot of Katie’s

point of view of the living room.

For this cut to the screenshot

below to be a smooth transition

and to match the shot before,

her body needs to be in exactly

the same place as where the shot

is looking from for it to look
