As part of Microsoft’s commitment to supporting education activities during Bett, we are offering tours of Showcase Schools. These tours will provide attendees with a sample of how education is being transformed by inspiring leaders, expert educators, confident and creative young people. Attendees will see how physical spaces, intentional learning design and the thoughtful use of technology are combined to create innovative teaching and personalized learning.
Tours will be offered on Tuesday, 24th, 25th and 26th January from approximately 10am – 12pm (departure times and locations will be confirmed nearer the time) the pick up point will be at the Microsoft offices in Paddington.
Please note that in order to register for the School Tours you will need to register to the Bett Show, at the end of the registration process you will be asked to choose your tour. If you have already registered for the Bett Show, using the same browser, click below and simply update your existing registration. (Scroll down to the bottom of the registration page to select your School Tour).

Building Robotic Fingers
Building robotic fingers: Using a drinking straw, a piece of string and some felt demonstrate the anatomy of the hand
Building the Biomechanical Hand
Craft a glove using cardboard, then equip it with a sensor made of copper tape to control the movement of the robotic finger that you just built
Coding the Micro:bit Program your name and display it on a micro:bit. Then use the radio to send secret messages to each other
Coding the Circuit Playground
Light up colored neopixels on the new circuit playground based on sensor data by dragging and dropping blocks of code
Playing Rock Paper Scissors
Use a biomechanical hand to play rock paper scissors with your fellow participants or against the computer and win merit badges!

Bloodhound: Race for the Line BBC micro:bit Rocket Car Competition Location: B480

Ever wondered how fast a rocket car made of foam can go? That’s exactly what students across the UK are finding out, using micro:bit mini-computers. The Rocket Car Competition is using a 1,000mph world land speed record attempt to inspire students to get involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The Bloodhound project teamed up with Microsoft to teach students coding with the micro:bit in the “Race for the Line” challenge
